Apollo Metatool is a professional IPTC metadata batch editor built for working press photographers.
Import photos from a camera card, apply a metadata template in seconds, and export files with all IPTC fields embedded — copyright, creator, event name, city, country, keywords, and more. The workflow that takes 45 minutes in Lightroom takes under 5 minutes in Apollo Metatool.
**BATCH EDITING**
Apply a complete set of IPTC metadata to hundreds of photos at once. One template, one tap, done. Supports JPEG, HEIC, HEIF, HIF, PNG, TIFF, and RAW with XMP sidecar.
**DOT SWAPPER**
Type player number codes like `.29.` in any metadata field and they expand to the player's full name automatically. Import a roster once; use it for the entire season. Supports teams, leagues, and custom code lists.
**METADATA TEMPLATES**
Save your standard metadata sets as templates. Apply them during import or batch-apply after the fact. Templates support variable tokens — `.event.`, `.city.`, `.creator.` — that resolve from the photo's own metadata at apply time.
**CAMERA CARD WORKFLOW**
Import directly from camera cards via the Files app. Photos are organised into dated event folders automatically. Filter by star rating at import time to skip unrated frames before they ever touch your device.
**LIVE INGEST (FTP)**
Connect to an FTP server on your local network — a NAS, a laptop, or wherever a camera's Wi-Fi transfer pushes to — and new photos import automatically as they land during a shoot. Set a rating filter, metadata template, and renaming pattern once and let it run hands-free; a live connection log shows exactly what's happening, and it reconnects automatically if the connection drops.
**IPTC STANDARD COMPLIANT**
Writes all standard IPTC/XMP fields using Apple's CGImageMetadata APIs: Title, Headline, Description, Keywords, Creator, Copyright, Credit, Source, Event, City, State/Province, Country, Country Code, GPS coordinates, and more.

**Live Ingest (FTP) redesigned** — Connecting to an FTP server now opens an Import-style dialog: pick a saved server, set a star rating filter, an IPTC template, and batch renaming, then tap Start. A live Connection Log shows what's happening and how many photos have been imported this session.
**Automatic reconnect** — If the connection to the FTP server drops mid-shoot, Apollo Metatool now reconnects automatically instead of getting stuck.
**More reliable in the field** — Fixed an issue where the connection could appear "Connected" indefinitely without ever importing anything, fixed the toolbar status icon not always showing the correct color, and duplicate or failed imports are now reported accurately instead of being silently counted as successful.
**Dot Swapper fix** — Newly created leagues are now recognized immediately: a brand-new league becomes the active one automatically (if none was active yet), and switching back to the Library tab refreshes the code map. Previously a freshly added league, team, or player could go unrecognized until manually marked "Active."
**Import default changed to "All Available Codes"** — Imports now default to combining codes from every league instead of only the active one, matching how most multi-event days are shot.
