It wasn’t too long ago that this app essentially didn’t work at all, but now it’s pretty decent. I actually like the UI and more minimal verbal guidance of the driving directions better than any other app (though I could deal with somewhat fewer “go past this light and at the next one…”. And I appreciate that you can see subway entrances in NYC now.

My issue is with biking directions. It’s constantly routing me down awful, busy roads and telling me to take three right turns to get to an address on a one-way street, when dismounting and walking a few feet down the sidewalk to it would make way more sense. When there are issues (like a road being stripped bare for re-paving), if you try to go off route (by taking a parallel street, for example) it will NEVER stop trying to route you back to the original plan. It’s very frustrating and disappointing.

Google Maps is ultimately orders of magnitude better in real-world navigation through a city, showing shortcuts through parks and plazas, up stairs, etc. I get that this is due in part to Apple’s privacy standards, not crowd-sourcing user route data. But despite trying to use Apple Maps as much as possible, I still end up going back to Google.

If you’re able to reply to this, please add a time war back we can go back into the past not to forget you can line back but work on New York City first because it has lots of buildings gotta get it first and not to forget when you go back to 2001 don’t forget about what I called the twin towers if you don’t know, I’m gonna put this on the top probably and guys I don’t know about this but I wanna be. slightly noticeable with this, but I’m kind of embarrassed when I post this because to keep this at the place there’s no way because for what I said that’s awareeeeee and this will probably give better improvements for the app and out of back time where it covers the decades don’t forget about the beginning of the 2000s and just do it New York and then go far back as you can like into the starting of the 1970s and by the way, don’t forget also add some stuff we’re pretty much you can also add time on the events which you can do 2001 with it. I’m not talking about the rest of it but who knows it’s a lot and for everyone to see this might just be crazy, but if you studied in science class, you would know that that wasn’t the cure for rabies it instead. I realize it could be my phone being older (12 pro), but about half the time I use maps, Siri can’t tell where I even am, and I either get placed five streets over or get stuck in the same spot, and my location doesn’t update in real time. So when you’re trying to get somewhere you’ve never been before and Siri can’t figure out how to navigate you like she’s supposed to, it doesn’t really work in you favor….

Secondly, if I hit the “X” button on an address, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I WANT IT TO BE PULLED BACK UP? If someone clicks out of an address, they are DONE with it. Don’t pull it up and make me exit out of it five different times to get back to the main location search bar. It’s awful.

In addition to that, I HATE that the “fastest” directions automatically try to take you onto the Express Tollways, where they exist. I don’t mind toll roads, but I sure as heck am not going to pay $15 one way in Express Lane tolls just because Siri thinks that’s the fastest way. But I there’s no option to opt away from express lanes, it’s either you get all tolls, regular and express, or you get none at all. And it’s very misleading to actual travel time to show the “fastest” route be the one with express lanes. It didn’t use to do this ever. And it’s extremely frustrating. I am on the verge of using something else instead of Maps. Downloading Waze at the time of this review.
