Love where this is heading

Couldn’t find an email for the developer so just doing feedback via a review. I love where this is heading…and only just a few revisions in! Would be great to just be able to use a filter/view already on the database vs creating one in the app itself. Not sure what’s possible here.

Also would be nice to either control the refresh schedule or at least note what Apple allows for by default in a FAQ page in the app.

Also I’ve never tried developing one of these myself so not sure what’s exposed in terms of functionality but the ability to scroll to additional database items if more exist beyond what the widget can show.

Thanks for writing a missing piece of critical functionality for being able to use Notion for tasks!

Developer Response ,

Hi there,

Thank you for your kind words, and I'm glad you like our app. Regarding your questions:

It is impossible to use the filter/view you have created on Notion due to limitations of Notion's developer API.

The widget is scheduled to be refreshed every 10 minutes most time of a day, and iOS may adjust this schedule depending on how you use the widgets. I agree with you; there should be some notes about this in the app. I will add them in upcoming versions, along with a refresh button on the widget if you are using iOS 17.

It is impossible to scroll in a widget in the current iOS system—sorry about that.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email us at notion-widgets@betalemon.xyz.

Thank you for your valuable feedback!

Nerdy Pete ,

Off to a good start but…

Like Notion, itself, it’s trying to do a lot and too much for me. I just wanted to be able to select a single page, a short task list, to display on my iPad in a widget. Instead I have to choose a database. So I created a journal and then create pages named after the tasks instead of creating one page with a short list on it. I’ll deal with it because who knows when the Notion devs will get around to adding widgets like the ones this app can create. The next problem is that it costs so much to buy outright and while there is a subscription option I am all subscribed out. For a bit more than twice the cost of paying outright I can buy a full featured animation app. And this app is just one of many apps out there that have similar business models. Sorry for the rant.

Best Notion Widget App Out There

Early in on this app’s development, and already it’s an all star. The stuff it claims to do, well it does it. There are of course things to be done to make it even better (e.g. ability to specify format of properties such as wrap vertically, ability to interact with status/checkbox directly from widget, specify font/color etc), but those things are “nice to haves” while the core of this app is fantastic and does its job. Good work, dev!
