BIGGEST WIN: When you share files from other apps, you can now select shows that have already started. This is perfect when you scan a QR code for a digital programme during the interval and want CritiCal to match what’s currently on. It’s a direct improvement inspired by a working critic and real-world audience timing. OTHER UPDATES: - Show end times are now hidden when you haven’t specified a run time, so event pages no longer show confusing “19:30–19:30” ranges. - The Quick Add form (press and hold the standard Add button) has a smoother parsing experience, plus fixes for some macOS layout issues. - On macOS, event forms now open as standalone windows instead of sheets on top of the main window. - On the dashboard’s “Today” view, times are more readable in dark mode. - Travel time estimates now display “Arrived” when you’re at or very near the venue. - Ongoing performance optimisation in background mode, including faster, more reliable refreshing of your Home Screen widgets.

What’s New: - Add a photographer credit to your poster images. The credit will appear on the shared images, so their work is recognised when you share artwork on social media. - We improved the large and medium “Next Event” widgets to display more of an event’s poster artwork, so you can spot what’s coming up at a glance. - Today’s events now use bold, higher-contrast cards with clearer start times. You’ll also see larger, easier-to-read weather and travel time details. - CritiCal on iPhone now supports landscape. While it’s not essential for viewing data inside the app, it’s a big upgrade for presenting e-tickets at the venue door. - Since CritiCal is brand new, we added a direct link to Support on the Dashboard view, and we also kept the Support links in About. - Location proximity alerts are now explicitly available for all. Previously, they were advertised as a premium feature, but only the ability to switch them on and off was gated. - Travel time estimates are now set up on demand (a "Show travel times" button in the appropriate position) if location access has not previously been granted. If location access is denied, the feature will be disabled but can be re-enabled in Settings. - A new "Today" row on the Dashboard features extra prominence for today's event(s), with clearer travel time and weather information - Spacing between sections in an event's detail view has been improved. Ever get annoyed when all the update says is "Bug fixes and performance updates"? Yeah, me too. NEW FEATURES: - Manually finding your review within your publication's feed has been redesigned, and now requires you to confirm the match (Premium subscribers only) - Prompts to add a starter set of genres is added to Onboarding and to the event form, unless you already have some - Skip button added to Onboarding - Onboarding views can also be restarted from Settings > About (iPhone/iPad) and Window > Show Onboarding… (iPad/macOS) - You may see a polite request to leave an App Store review after using the app for a while. No pressure. - Adding a poster image to events now uses the file system instead of direct Photos access on Mac - "Upcoming"/"Previous" search filter cutoff time has been tweaked. If a show's late to go up, it won't appear in "Seen" straight away. FIXES: - Tapping the notification from a background match will take you to the above manual review screen, instead of just the event. Long pressing the notification to confirm the match is still supported (and much the best way!). (Premium subscribers only) - The sheet to construct social share images is now correctly sized on iPad. (Premium subscribers only) - If you are not yet subscribed and enter a publication, your entered details will be saved, even though you need an active subscription to use publications throughout the app. - Apple Weather attribution is only shown in event views that attempt to display weather information (any event with a valid location that's happening in the next week). - Some users encountered crashes in background processes, sometimes without any indication. They'll happen less often now. - Non-subscribers who attempted to add a publication would lose their entered information when the paywall was displayed. - The venue details section within the Event details view correctly respects user taps - Some action buttons in the event detail view used the incorrect foreground colour - Adding a reminder within the new event form would sometimes silently fail, but should now save - Events can only be created with a valid venue attached. - The tiles in Encore view are now reliably sized on all platforms. WHAT'S NEW: • Saved filters now display their description, if they have one, in the navigation bar as a subtitle • The Subscription paywall view has a higher contrast design, and includes Privacy and Terms of Use links • Text items that can be attached to events are now referred to as reminders everywhere, regardless of whether or not they have completion dates. If you see any references to "tasks" or "notes", please let me know! WHAT'S FIXED: • Subscription processes that were prematurely ended before payment could have caused subsequent attempts to pay to fail • When sharing documents from other apps into CritiCal, users were shown an "Is this a ticket" toggle that wasn't wired up to anything. Selecting "Ticket" from the document type dropdown remains the way to add e-tickets to your event page. • In Encore, Year to Date is now a permanently available option in the timescale selector. Previously, if you selected a prior year, it would disappear until you reverted to 2026. • Some minor visual inconsistencies have been addressed.
