Excellent support

I went to their support area and chatted with Sarah, who is very nice. She was expedient in identifying the problem and giving a fix. I like that in a developer. The app iteself only has one quirk that I haven’t been able to fix. The minute you put a “delay” on sending messages, most of the times the sending process fails and the message never sends and gets “stuck” in the drafts folder. The only way I’ve been able to fix is by telling the app to send immediately. Aside from that, it is excellent and has so many options that enable you to configure that app to your heart’s content.Update June 2016: I am really happy with this application. It does “hiccup” sometimes and you need to tell it to rebuild a specific database for the account you are having trouble with, but aside from that, it works just fine and has perhaps too many customizable features (something Outlook for Mac does not have). l’ve dealt with David, Sarah, and Steven, and they are all very knowledgeable about the application and respond in a timely fashion. So, I recomment this application - if you have the time to configure it, you won’t be dissapointed.Update 2026: well it wasn't meant to last. My two part-time college employers have rigged their Exchange servers so that the only mail client that will "go through" is Outlook. So I guess back to that inferior software it is.

Great app, but search box utility is limited and signatures need to cover all platforms
NewEnglandDoug
I tried Airmail several years ago but went with a different product. I abandoned the other product over a pricing issue, and I went to Apple Mail on my Mac Mini, my iPhone, and my iPad. Now I have switched to Airmail obn all three devices.I'm very happy with Airmail. Its features make it worth the price. I am semi-retured but still working. Airmail fulfills my needs for two Gmail accounts and an iCloud mail account. Two complaints, however:1. The search box used to search for emails does not allow use of phrases, just single words. While the search box has lots of capabilities, this reliance on just single-word search terms limits the specific search I can invoke.2. I'm very happy that signatures can use HTML coding. But I'd like the option to set signatures for each of my three accounts across all my devices, i.e., the Mac Mini, the iPad, and the iPhone. Also, the onboarding process was confusing. For a while,. after I paid for an upgrade to my subscription, I still received notices regularly asking me to purchase the upgrade I had already chosen and paid for, This was annoying and required an email interaction with AirMail support.

A great app now rendered unusable
Tamanzi
Update: I don’t know if this app has been abandoned – I tried to seek support via their online chat function – and I received a reply to seek support via the Apple Review process. But I see the app has not been updated for 6 months. My mail folders disappear every time the Mac goes to sleep and shortcuts stop working. I then have to quit the app to bring the folders back – and make the shortcuts work – until the next time the Mac goes to sleep. It’s getting old. And now, my attempt at receiving support actually hung the App Store App. I have been using Airmail on and off for Mac and iOS for years now. The off is always because of problems where I just stop using it because I cannot take it anymore. Random messages missing from the inbox, but when I open webmail, it is there. Random messages just reappaearing in the inbox despite having been deleted or moved (not snoozed), and speaking of which, snoozed messages just disappearing all together. I thought the annual premium would help correct these issues and return AirMail to the excellent email handler it used to be – but if anything, it seems to be getting worse. And I just cannot work that way. I pretty much operate my work life via email, and these random missing emails are just unacceptable. It's a pity too, because there really was nothing to equal it.

Generally nice but not enough support and development.

After over a year of use I am looking to move on from Airmail. It's generally a nice applciation and functions well but it has some long standing issues that never seem to get resolved. Support requests seem to be fruitless too. Once they see what the issue is they just stop responding. The first problem is that it has a difficult time rendering some messages so images and sometimes even the text does not display. I find myself having to switch to plan text view to read some messages or using apple mail in the case of images. This has been going on for longer than I've used this app. My second issue is that it's slow using IMAP. Refreshing folders and moving messages around just takes too long. Again Apple Mail is much faster. Finally, the search functionally is not even up to par with Apple Mail. It's very difficult to drill down. For someone who deals with hundreds of emails a week and needs to keep and file most messages this just doesn’t cut it. ****UPDATE**** 6 years (!!) after I posted this review I finally got a canned response from the nonexistent support team that addresses nothing. I’ve long moved on. This track record from them should tell you everything.
