RainViewer is a weather radar and storm tracker app. It forecasts the upcoming rain and predicts where a storm will move in the next 2 hours. When the rain is on its way, RainViewer sends push notifications.

Get a heads up on bad weather. RainViewer lets you track a storm's path on an easy-to-read weather map from how it's moved in the past 48 hrs to its position now to where it's predicted to be in the next 90 mins.

Lock screen widgets allow you to check the weather at a glance. Additionally, 3 home screen widgets give you the latest weather for any location or urgent updates on where a storm is headed.

Know in advance when a tropical storm reaches your area. Track its movement on the radar map. Check its strength, speed, and where it goes next.

Get push notifications about severe weather alerts sent by National Weather Service. Check the affected area on the map and review detailed information about extreme weather conditions nearby.

Always right

I love watching radar and seeing how it matches to the actual rain at my house. I have found this ad to be correct 99% of the time the hardest problem is light versus heavy rain However I found it to be correct most of the time the alerts also help me to know when the rain is coming but I need to do outside before it gets here standing application

Fatal flaw

This app has one fatal flaw that kept me from keeping a subscription: every time I opened the app, I had to tell it that I wanted the forecast for my current location. Why isn’t this the default? It seems to be the default on every single other weather app I’ve tried. This is annoying, and there doesn’t seem to be any setting to change it.

Also, a giant “NO” on my Apple watch face isn’t something I want to see. Why not just a 0% if there’s no chance of rain?

I look forward to the developers response, since he seems to have responded to every other review. Maybe some of that time could be used to make your current location the default, or at least include a setting for it.

Developer Response ,

Accept our gratitude for your interest in RainViewer. You may find it interesting to try the latest RainViewer version. We did a job to improve/fix the list of features there including the work of the Apple Watch version. Hope you'll find this app version to be interesting and useful after all. Kind regards

Very disappointed with the surprise 2.0 upgrade

I wasn’t aware there were major changes from version 1 to 2. I purchased version 1 because I could save animations to gif and various video formats. Version 2 no longer appears to have these features and the new radar map is like looking through a kaleidoscope which is basically useless to me. I reached out to support but they have not responded. I wish they would put version 1 back out on the App Store as version 2 seems like it should still be in development.

Thank you for responding!

Severe weather this evening and all weather stations nationwide are offline. Not reliable! Can’t believe I paid for this.

Appears to have been resolved quickly.

Weather rolling in and not getting radar updates in a timely manner. I can get the same service through other apps for free. This will be my last review update. Thanks for the ride with a horrible ending. Don’t waste your money.

Developer Response ,

Hi! Thank you so much for your interest in RainViewer. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by the implementation of the new app version. The animation sharing option is to be returned in the near future. Regarding the animation "kaleidoscope", please kindly be informed that "pixelization" is possible for the Future part of the progress bar due to the specific of your region. We'll do our best to improve the situation. Meanwhile please try our Smooth Radar option, probably you'll find it to be useful (Menu - Settings - Radar Overlay - Smooth radar). Again, sorry about that, we do try to enhance our product. With kind regards
