Astrolabe Clock is an astronomical clock inspired by the astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument used to tell time and to predict the location of the Sun, stars and planets. This modern interpretation gives a view of the sky showing at a glance the time of day, day of year, and the location in the sky of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars. Astrolabe Clock also gives the time of sunrise and sunset, the phase of the Moon, transit times for the Sun, Moon, planets and stars, and can be used to show the occurrence of solar and lunar eclipses.

This is literally exactly what I wanted. I had a Win-32 application that did some of what this thing does as my background, but this is way better. Most importantly, it's in my pocket. Love the drag-the-time feature. Clear that the author wanted to make the app usable above all else. Works on >= iOS 6 which is perfect for a Luddite like me. No dumb or useless features. All parameters manually settable.Perfect.

This may not be brand new or flashy, but I really love the way this astrolabe visualizes the relationships between the celestial bodies as a function of time. If you actually read the instructions and play with the app you learn a lot about how things are related. Well done!

I just got my first GermanEquatorial Mount (with a new Scope obviously), and was really disappointed when I found-out about setting the Right Ascension manual dial.Now, with this App, I have my local position setting right on my phone....already calculated. All I have to do is aim my scope due south, reset, then find my next target.Thanks much!

Oh look, the North Star. No, that is not the North Star. To begin with, you were looking to the south. That is Venus.That was an actual exchange with a neighbor. With this incredible app, you too can be the neighborhood expert on those bright objects in the sky.I have used a mechanical astrolabe for decades, but it does not show the planets. This iPhone app is the perfect complement.

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon. New USER SUGGESTED features: - Local Apparent Sidereal Time displayed - Ecliptic Poles shown - Option to reverse East and West directions. Use this when in the "North" projection to show time increasing clockwise as on a traditional astrolabe instrument. Also: - Fixed error in the location of the boundaries between zodiac signs - Settings button now consistent with iOS 8 style - Other minor bug fixes
