Asuo is a flood navigation App that predicts flood risk and guides users to safety in real time. Currently built for Accra, Ghana, the app is designed to scale to any flood-prone city in the future. Accra is the starting point because it is one of the most flood-affected urban areas in West Africa, making it the ideal place to build, test, and refine the technology before expanding to other regions.
REAL-TIME FLOOD SIMULATION
Watch a full flood cycle unfold from early warning to active flooding to all-clear. The simulation models rain intensity across multiple levels and calculates dynamic risk scores for each zone using rainfall, drainage quality, elevation, and river proximity.
INTERACTIVE FLOOD MAP
Explore an accurate map with color-coded flood zones, waterways, emergency shelters, and hospitals. Pinch to zoom, pan to explore, and tap any zone to see detailed risk breakdowns including population, drainage status, flood history, and a scored risk analysis.
SAFE ROUTE NAVIGATION
Set your destination and get a route that automatically avoids danger zones. The app uses A* pathfinding to calculate the safest path in real time, treating flooded areas as impassable and routing around high-risk zones. Switch between walking and driving modes for accurate time estimates.
TURN-BY-TURN GUIDANCE
Start navigation and follow your safe route with a live-tracking marker. The camera follows your position, showing turn-by-turn instructions, distance remaining, time estimates, and nearby shelter alerts. A progress bar tracks your journey from start to arrival.
EMERGENCY SOS
A slide-to-call button connects directly to local emergency services for rescue assistance during flood emergencies.
ALERT DASHBOARD
Monitor the current flood phase, rain intensity, zone-by-zone flood status, and real-time status messages all on a single scrollable dashboard with live-updating cards.
ACCESSIBILITY
Asuo is built with accessibility at its core. Full VoiceOver support with descriptive labels and hints. Voice announcements for flood phase changes and navigation events. Haptic feedback for every interaction. Respect for the Reduce Motion setting. Color is never the sole indicator, icons and text always accompany visual information.
