Desperately needed a writing app that I could use for free and was so happy to find this one! I often find myself becoming overwhelmed if text begins to appear cluttered and thoughts start getting tangled; thankfully this app offers a concept map which easily organizes different ideas, as well as a journal so I can more loosely write without complicating the main document. The app is easy to use, the tutorial video is straightforward and concise in teaching how to use features I never knew I needed and have not yet seen in other free writing apps I’ve used in the past; the design is simple yet elegant; and when I was unable to access the app, I was able to contact the developer and not only did I get a response that the issue would be resolved but I also recieved notice when the app was back up and running again! And none of my work was lost because of the issue!And this is only the free version! I plan to one day buy the full version to see what else is included with that package as I think it’s safe to assume there are even more well-thought out tools for writers. I highly recommend!

Well designed and with a lot of features that you would not expect, and at a very reasonable price point. The free version (this one, labeled Basic) is extremely usable out-of-the-box, with almost all features fully enabled except for exporting to other formats. I’ve used or tested a number of similar packages like IA Writer, Drafts and Obsidian, and while each have excellent features, I especially like how Author and Drafts are excellent at “staying out of the way” while you are writing.

Author is beautiful. Author is fast. And Author is powerful. A beast of an app in a beautiful UI, this app combines elegance and expediance. I was instantly hooked by it's clean look. But, it was the introductory video that revealed the veritable powerhouse that lies beneath its exquisite exterior. I must emphatically declare my unwavering adoration and give Author a 10/10!

This app may seem appealing to you at first, but when you actually use it, it is just a box on your screen that you can type in and you can't change the font, margins, or anything like that! Complete waste of my time. As an author, I tae word processors seriously. I was looking for a better one when the one I've been using was charging me $19.99 a year in order to print! (1Doc). You should not use this app if you are picky about the font and everything like that.
