Ratings and Reviews
Rearranges hand
The most irritating thing is how it changes your hand without permission. Perhaps you are trying for 3 3’s, if you already have 2 but also 3 aces and 2 2’ s and draw a 4 in one suit, it automatically changes your hand to a straight. I’ve discarded cards try for a particular set up and when it changes my hand it messes up the whole deal. Also I’m finding that the deal and play have started to go slower and hesitate mid deal or play. Other wise it’s fine
Better Than My Previous App!
I played GinRummy using an app that the developer did not keep updated. With the last iOS update, that app would no longer work. And not all GinRummy apps include the Oklahoma variation, which has become my favorite.
This app DOES, and the game plays “cleaner-looking,” if that makes any sense. I am really enjoying this app, and being able to add my name and my virtual opponent’s name is a nice touch.
A comment to those reviewers who thought the game was “rigged” because the virtual opponent will frequently discard a card of the same value as the one YOU just discarded: When my father taught me this game, back in the 60s, he taught me that strategy. Unless you are collecting a run of cards of the same suit, if you throw down a 10, for instance, your opponent will, also (if he has one and doesn’t need it, himself). That gives him a better shot at you not picking it up from the discard pile. So the game isn’t rigged in favor of the virtual opponent. At least, not because of THAT! 😉
Flawed Game
I've been playing for a week now and I noticed a pattern develop. It seems that when you have two pairs and you must discard one, the next draw is usually the same card series as what you discarded. Say you had 2 threes and 2 fours. You discard a four and the next draw is a four. Discard the three and the next card is a three. Now I know there is a chance factor but it happens probably half the time. So I know that chance is not involved. It makes the game very frustrating because after awhile you know what's going to happen and that no matter what choice you make it will most probably be wrong. I don't know if this is a flaw or purposefully done. Otherwise the game is ok. You can tell when you are going to lose because, you either get a terrible hand or you can't draw a winner. I've had 5 pairs multiple times and I can't draw a third match in 10 draws. The odds of that happening are staggering. It's very frustrating
