BLML is a private chat app for the people who actually matter to you — your family, your close friends, your group.
It is self-hosted. Your messages, photos and voice notes live on a server your group runs, not on a service owned by a large company. No ads. No algorithm deciding what you see. Nobody reading your conversations to sell you things.
TALK TO PEOPLE
Message one person or a whole group, with typing indicators, delivery and read receipts. Reply to a specific message to keep a busy group straight, edit one you got wrong, or send a voice note when typing is too slow. Share photos, videos, documents and audio.
CALL EACH OTHER
Voice and video calls connect directly between devices where the network allows, and relay through your own server when it does not — so calls work even when both people are on mobile data.
KEEP A GROUP ORGANISED
Mention someone to pull them into a conversation. Pin the address or the date everyone keeps asking about. Settle "what are we eating" with a poll instead of forty messages. Use broadcast channels for announcements only admins can post to.
FIND EACH OTHER
Search by username, scan a QR code in person, or match against your phone's contacts. Nothing is uploaded anywhere except your own server.
MAKE IT YOURS
Light, dark or follow-your-phone themes, a gallery of chat wallpapers, and adjustable text size — because not everyone in a family has the same eyesight.
PLEASE NOTE
BLML requires an account on a BLML server, and creating one needs an invite code from whoever runs it. This is deliberate: an address anyone can reach is not a room anyone can walk into. If you have not been given a server address and an invite code, this app will not be useful to you on its own.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
- Chat requests: someone new has to ask first, and you choose to Accept, Decline or Block.
- Blocking now really blocks: a blocked person can no longer message you.
- Photos open full screen, and videos play right in the chat.
- Notifications show who the message is from.
- Find friends from your phone contacts more reliably; phone numbers can be typed in any format.
- More room on screen, with compact headers.
- Group removal now sticks, and only you can delete your own messages for everyone.
