Chisel is a focus timer that carves marble.
Every hour you spend on your work cuts stone away from a philosopher's bust. When the bust is finished it goes to stand in your Stoa, and it stays there, because you made it out of hours you will not get back.
HOW IT WORKS
Write down what is in your control. Choose twenty-five, fifty or ninety minutes. Take up the chisel. While the session runs, stone falls away from the block in front of you — and when it is done, the minutes are in the stone whether you finished the task or not.
The first statue takes an hour and a half. Every one after takes four.
PRACTICE AND DISCIPLINE
A practice session can be paused whenever you need to. A discipline session cannot: you stay until it ends, or you hold to yield. Nothing is lost either way. Quitting early keeps the minutes you carved.
THE GATE
Name the apps that take your attention and Chisel holds them shut while you carve. If you go in anyway it costs two minutes of marble — a real price, paid out of the statue, visible on the stone. There is no way to cheat it, because there is nothing to cheat.

THE EVENING REVIEW
Seneca examined his day before sleep. Three questions, once a night, and a lamp lit for each one you answer. It asks what you cured, what you resisted, and where you are better. It does not score you.
LETTERS FROM THE STOA
A letter each week, written in the manner of Seneca's letters to Lucilius. The opening is free. Chisel Pro opens the whole letter and every letter that came before it.
WHAT CHISEL DOES NOT DO
There are no streaks. There is no leaderboard, no badge, no notification telling you that you have let something slip. Nothing in Chisel is designed to make you feel bad for closing it.
The marble is never for sale. Pro does not buy you a single philosopher or a single stone — those are still hours. Six philosophers, four marbles, all of them earned.
Every quotation in Chisel is real and cited to book and section. None of them are invented.
PRIVACY
No account. No sign-in. Nothing you write leaves your phone, except to your own iCloud so your Stoa survives a new one.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
