CoreTrim ends that trade-off: a Workflow Extension that runs right inside Final Cut Pro, exports only the ranges your timeline actually plays, and writes a relinked project that imports back into Final Cut an identical copy of your project. You get a complete, self-contained archive ready to import anywhere. SHIP ONLY WHAT THE EDIT USES CoreTrim analyzes every clip your project references and exports just the used media - plus the safety handles you choose. Size estimates appear before you export, so you know the savings up front. Archives that were terabytes become gigabytes. SAFE BY DESIGN Your originals are never modified — CoreTrim only reads them. Every trim is planned to cover the edit with room to spare, boundaries are validated frame-accurately against each file's real structure, and trimmed output is verified before it ships. If a file can't be trimmed with certainty, CoreTrim automatically copies the complete original instead - safety always wins over savings. On import, Final Cut places the archive in a brand-new library, so your existing libraries are never touched. And everything runs locally on your Mac - your media never leaves your machine. YOU DECIDE, FILE BY FILE After analysis, every source shows a recommended mode with a plain-English explanation: Trim (stream copy - no re-encode, no quality loss), Transcode Trim (ProRes, for formats that can't be stream-copied), Copy Original, or Skip. Override any file with a click, or change compatible files together. MULTICAM, YOUR WAY Choose how multicam clips are archived: keep every angle's sources complete for future re-editing, or checkerboard the export so only the shots you actually use are included - the biggest savings on multicam-heavy projects. EVERYTHING SURVIVES THE ROUND TRIP Multicam and compound clips, transitions, speed changes, keyframed effects, markers, and embedded timecode all arrive intact. Audio keeps its sample-accurate placement. Speed-changed sources are copied in full so retiming stays perfect. KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED Every export includes a clear HTML report: what was trimmed, copied, or skipped and why, per-file sizes and savings, plus notes on Motion templates and camera LUTs the receiving Mac may need. Source lists and a diagnostics folder are included for handoffs and support. WHAT YOU GET A tidy export folder containing the relinked project file, your trimmed media, the report, source lists, and a plain-English read-me — everything a colleague (or future you) needs to pick up the edit. BROAD FORMAT SUPPORT ProRes and other QuickTime codecs, H.264 and HEVC in MP4 and MOV, professional MXF (XDCAM, DNxHD, DV and more) via direct stream copy, and common audio formats.
