Stop describing what you see. DesktopVisionMCP is a lightweight macOS menu bar app that lets your AI assistant request a screenshot when you ask it to.
Use it with any assistant that supports MCP. The app lives quietly in your menu bar and gives your assistant screen context only when it is needed.
How it works:
- Open DesktopVisionMCP from the menu bar.
- Choose “AI assistant instructions (copy).”
- Paste the instructions to your assistant.
- Ask your actual question instead of explaining what is on screen.
You stay in control. DesktopVisionMCP requires macOS Screen Recording permission, captures only when your assistant requests it, and stops completely when you stop it. It does not continuously record, click, type, or control your Mac.
