Description

The world's first drone Remote ID scanner made by Dronetag.

READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING!
Limited access to features on some phones is caused by manufacturers’ restrictions. All iOS phones, for example, prohibit app access to Wi-Fi, so only Bluetooth data transmission will work (if and only the drone has an active Remote ID over Bluetooth). It is not a flaw of our app; we cannot fix this, and we don’t deserve negative reviews for these issues.
_____

Transform your phone or tablet into a drone scanner and track all the nearby flights over Direct / Broadcast Remote ID standards. Browse real-time data about drones on a detailed map highlighting specific flying space zones. Download Drone Scanner for free and discover what drones fly above your head.

Favourite features:
- Discover more about drones flying nearby in real-time
- Examine detailed information broadcasted by drones via Bluetooth 4, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi Beacon, and Wi-Fi NAN
- Browse a detailed map with your location and all nearby aircraft
- Check available data about drones, including real-time height, direction, pilot identification, pilot position, operation description, and location history
- Various flying zones marked and highlighted on the map
- Easy export of collected data
- Continuously updated to reflect the latest EU & US regulations

All these features you find in Drone Scanner – a free app for tracking drones. The app is developed by Dronetag, manufacturing devices for remote drone identification.

How it works:
Anyone can quickly identify what drones are flying in the sky nearby. Direct Remote ID is a feature that transmits live flight data via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to the surrounding area. Drone manufacturers use various technologies to build an identification feature in new drones. Older drone pilots use add-on devices, enabling them to become digitally visible. With hardware on your smartphone, Drone Scanner can receive and read broadcasted data.

What’s New

Waste of time !!

Let me save you some time. Don’t try and use Drone Scanner if your using an Apple IOS device. The developer acknowledges that their app doesn’t work with Apple. This is on their website yet they continue to have their product in the Apple App Store. When downloading the app it tells you it will work on your brand/model phone. One reason I choose to be with Apple is they protect their users from App developers and their lack of standards to protect their customers from apps that will conflict with the best interest of their users and their big $$$ phones. Meet the standards and maybe Apple will let you come and play.

Hi Gary, we understand your frustration. The limitation you’re experiencing is due to Apple’s current restrictions on Wi-Fi scanning for third-party apps. But, Drone Scanner can pick up Bluetooth signals for Remote ID. We still believe the app provides value for iOS users with Bluetooth-enabled drones, and we hope Apple will allow Wi-Fi scanning in the future. Thanks for your feedback

In Testing

I’m going to be installing a Dronetag beacon module on my commercial drone. I’ll post an updated review as Testing progresses.
Since the FAA eliminated the requirement for Wi-Fi or cellular connection, this makes it somewhat easier. The unit is small and light and has a long operating time.
For those concerned with privacy issues, if you’re transmitting our ID on Bluetooth it’s pretty much line of sight or less. This means any person trying to locate you must also be within your line of sight, so just be aware of your surroundings.
I will remind all those out there that have a problem with Drones that want to use this app to track and possibly harass people… interference with a drone pilot, especially a commercial drone Pilot during an authorized mission is a punishable offense.

Hi, thank you for your comment, I am glad that you like the Dronetag RID module, how did the test go?

This app actually works very well

The app reads Bluetooth drone id beacons and shows the ground station and drone on a map.

This works for me with my Bluetooth drone beacon. The developers are very up front regarding what the app can and can not do based on iPhone limitations and also drone limitations in that many drones are not up to date enough to send out a signal this app can receive.

If you are ok with receiving Bluetooth signals only and/or you have a drone that sends them out this app should work for you as it does for me.

I would like to commend the developers for a job well done on a free app and for putting up with the negative reviews from those who do not understand the technology. And yes, this is a real review. I’m just a random drone person who decided to try the app and I’m happy with it
