Description

Exif Editor is an application that allows you to edit metadata in directly your photos.

The tool is useful when you don't want to expose camera to your customers. When your RAW processor doesn't open your file because it doesn't recognise valid camera/lens combination.

In some applications, it's needed to reload metadata as they are heavily cached, for example Adobe Bridge, Lightroom or Aperture.
• Adobe Lightroom - select image, right click and in the popup menu select Metadata->Read Metadata from Files

Exif Editor now support for the following file formats
• JPEG
• TIFF
• HEIC

Works well for basic metadata editing

I made a mistake setting the date on my new camera and needed a tool to change the date. It was late at night and I didn't fancy starting down the path of using exiftool.

After searching I found the author's website and then downloaded the app from the App Store. It was possible to set an offset of one day, but this option took a little effort to find because initially I was setting the absolute date. After getting my dates correct, this tool processed my files quickly.

It was able to detect the Fuji RAW format used and output a friendly warning that it hadn't been tested. I appreciate this since many tools will happily process files without warning. I double-checked some files after they were imported to Lightroom and all was good.

I'm going to try some other metadata modifications, but I don't think I'll use this tool regularly. I'll still keep it around for times when I do something stupid. Every serious photographer who isn't ready to embrace the exiftool command line utility should get a copy.

Very Good but not Great

For the author(s), I love this software, but I would a few things fixed.

1) Sometimes the Exif Data doesn't save when you edit an existing preset. You have to edit the preset, then exit the app and re-open for the changes to stick and and then applied again.

2) Sometimes the "process button" doesn't actually save the data.

As a feature request I would love the ability to reorder the presets in the list. Would be very helpful.

Don't get me wrong, I am loving the presets. I have one setup just for my info and copy-write, and I am building presets for each of my lenses. I primarily use adapted vintage lenses, so the idea of presets for each lens is so very helpful.

For users, even with the above comments, this is a great app that is a bit quirky, but overall very good at what it does. Is it perfect? No. But I also recently dropped Adobe which has this feature built in and I needed an alternate solution. If you do not use Adobe, I would wholeheartedly recommend this app.

Great, so far!

I was looking for an application to add keywords to many, many files. I have over 138,000 images that I should have done a better job categorizing.
In some cases, there should be multiple categories.

I tested with one folder of 65 images first adding keywords “Test Exif Editor”. Batch processing was smooth and accurate.
Then, selected the same 65 again and added a new keyword to the existing one. It shows the existing greyed out and allowed me to add another.
Again, processed exactly what I wanted.
Then, selecting one photo, I modified the keyword field again while leaving the other two in tact. Flawless.
For a final test, I added “removed other two” and removed the other two keyword phrases.

Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for!
