I really like Folder Colorizer and I use it to visually distinguish folders in several broad categories. I purchased it last year directly from Softorino, but their licensing was so confusing and costly that I stopped paying for it and cancelled my Softorino subscription. I was really pleased when I stumbled upon it in the Apple App Store, and purchased it immediately. Very pleased to have this back on my Mac.

After checking this one out for a minute,. I was sold, it was exactly what I was looking for! I mean, when has the main idea worked out so well, how could it completely fail on the little things that are common sense expectations?!?! Well,. After using for a little bit,. I have a big sad face, I love the basic way it works, and how it does it, however, because of the points I’m going to mention,. I have to find something else to use,. :( 1. No way to add text. 2. Cannot resize or move your selunexceptable:O WHAAAT?!?!?!). 3. Can’t mark, flag, or save images you see that would work great elsewhere, so you would have to remember how and where you found them. If you remember them at all. 5. Once you create a folder image you like, but later decide you want the tab a different color,. Trying to change it, leaves you without the image, and wondering where and how to find it again. 6. No history of used folders,. So in order to use one you like somewhere else at another time, you have to TRY and find that image again,. Btw,. Many great images, but the search leaves a lot to be desired. Other than that,.. this app has the potential Ito be the PERFECT folder customizer! I’m truly saddened to find something so close, yet missing such important basics, to the point of “ not good enough!” - let down after feeling fulfilled!

The app doesn't seem to offer any control whatsoever on the exact portion of a photo you wish to set as folder picture. When selecting a photo, it might choose any central part of it and crop that to put on the folder, irrespectable of the picture resolution or your interest. A tedious workaround is to first open the picture in Preview, resize it using pich zoom to create black borders, then take multiple screenshots and try your luck to see if any of them would work! It doesn't seem like a huge feature to request but I hope it's under way. Also, it's very strange that the ususal "delete" key would not work as expected to delete a photo from the app gallary; you'd have to manully select, then right click on it and hit delete! Fix, please.

As someone who has a lot of folders on their screen it does give me the option to look at folders that aren't blue which is nice. Theres not much to hate on this app and I think it was worth the money. I do hope in the near future that they add more colors. Even a simple grey, black, tan, and white will be a great improvement. If they were to push it even further, a color picker would be nice as I would love to match each folder to the color aesthetic of my applications!
