It's actually not that difficult to change folder icons on a Mac. But doing it manually by adjusting the color and adding an icon is so tedious. This app does the simple job of letting you select a color (from a pretty wide array of pallettes) and an icon (again, from a pretty good selection) to switch the icon on the fly -- no need to copy/paste, save, use an image editor, etc. This is an all-in-one that simplifies the job.Also as a note: it CAN work for ALIASES. I saw a review stating that it doesn't carry the icon over when creating an Alias. This is true -- because Apple decided to default to a "shorcut folder" icon when creating any alias. This is not the fault of the developer of this app. And, it's an easy fix. Simply select the original folder, right click > Get Info, then click the small icon of the folder in the upper left to select it, CMD C (to copy). Now, repeat this process by right clicking on the Alias/shortcut, clicking Get Info, selecting that blue shortcut icon and CMD V (to paste) the custom icon over it. Done!

I love the lability to change the colors and add icons. Aliases created do not carry the changes. This is really disappointing. So it falls short of of being really useful, it is still helpful but can't be implimented as I had hoped. The developer told me it was a bug that couldn't be fixed unless they experienced it. I'd help them figure it out bc it has great potential, but I kinda got the brush off. I paid for this app and its got a lot of potential so I would like to see it be as useful as possible. Would like more icons, emotional ones maybe, and a way to search them. I would happily pay for this if these things could be implemented.

Foldor has always been my favorite folder color/icon app. I've recommended it to so many people. Until the latest version. What happened? Everything is broken. Color palettes change every time you open it and many don't really represent how they're named. Even the Monochromatic palette is colored! Why the randomization?? It defeats the purpose of what an app like this is for. The only way to save anything is to put your edit in the custom palette (which is not easy or intuitive to use). The eyedropper is not accurate AT ALL. It consistently samples colors darker than they actually are, even if you're shown the same values for that color. The history window shows you all the colors you've used, but you can't label or notate anything. I've actually made screenshots of my edits to try to retain color info, but sometimes that info doesn't recreate the color I want. This is a classic example of a developer thinking "Let's make it better by making it worse!" The "improvements" were clearly not thought through or tested in the real world. On top of all that, there's no documentation or help of any kind. It's such a mess and I'm so disappointed.

I've been looking for a product like this for years. It makes folder organization so very easy. No other program comes even close to this one. I do wish they would include more icon categories like music, art, education, sports, and work, to name a few. Maybe they will include more categories in the future. The Mac'ssolution to this kind of program is abysmal! This program has it all over Apple. Good going guys and girls! I give this 5 big whopping stars. If I could give you 10 stars, I would!
