Folia
A library that remembers
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Build a bookshelf that looks like yours. Capture books on the spot, keep a wishlist, and remember where, when and how you read each one. Now on iPad.
Folia isn't just a catalog of books — it's where you build the memory of everything you've read. What you felt, where you were, what else was going on in your life while you turned those pages.
Every book you add becomes a spine you design yourself: pick the color, texture, and typography until it feels like yours. Over time, your digital shelf starts to look like a real one.
A JOURNAL, NOT JUST A TRACKER
Note where you were reading, who you were with, how old you were, what else you were reading at the time, even what music was playing. Add a mood to each session — energized, calm, wistful — and over time you'll have a real record of your relationship with each book, not just a "finished" date.
YOUR LIBRARY, WITH ITS OWN IDENTITY
• Design each book's spine: color, texture, typography, and alignment
• Dozens of styles and textures to choose from — from classic to geometric, Japanese-inspired prints, tilework, Victorian, art deco, and more
• Switch between shelf view or cover view, with shelves you can organize or hide
• Search and filter by mood, length, reading status, or your own tags
• Free-form tags to build sagas, collections, or lists your way
• Rate with stars or simple reactions — you choose the system
READING ROOM
• A carousel of what you're currently reading, with progress at a glance
• Reading challenges with goals you set
• A reading queue for what's next
• Monthly summaries of your activity
• Achievements to unlock
• Every quote you've underlined, all in one place
CAPTURE BEFORE YOU DECIDE
• Snap photos of covers at the bookstore and decide later, no pressure
• Scan a barcode or ISBN to find the book instantly
• A wishlist separate from your library — move books between pending, wishlist, library, or discarded whenever you want
• Duplicate detection, so you never add the same book twice
YOUR DATA, YOURS
Everything is stored on your device. Export a full backup whenever you want, or share a book with another Folia user by scanning a QR code.
THOUGHTFUL DETAILS
Light and dark mode, several wood textures for the shelf, and available in English and Spanish.
Folia is for people who read slowly and want to remember why every book mattered.
Ratings & Reviews

NEW
1. iPad support
2. Reread
The "Read again" button now opens a date picker (in case you actually
started the reread a few days earlier) instead of always starting
"today". Also, the book's Details page now shows a new "Past rereads"
block with the date, sessions and minutes read for each previous
read-through, if the book has any.
3. Annotate the book from the reading progress panel
When you log a session, there's a new "Something about the book" field
in addition to "What was going on". That field is saved in Notebook >
Notes (the book's general note), separate from the day's context.
4. Customizable moods and book moods
5. Mural view
6. Large-cover view in Wishlist
7. Number of pages in Wishlist and Capture
8. Selectable typeface and font size for Notebook
9. Sort and group the wishlist
New "Group by" menu in the Wishlist bar, with three options: Year,
Genre, and Number of pages (in ranges: no data, under 200, 200 to 350,
350 to 500, over 500). It works the same in the list and in the
large-cover view.
10. Save the captured book's location on a map
11. Tag stamps built from spine designs
"Edit tag" now has an Icon / Stamp selector at the top. In Stamp mode,
you choose from the same textures used for book spines, colored with
the tag's color -- they live alongside the regular icons, and each tag
uses whatever the user picked for it. It shows up everywhere a tag was
already displayed (Notebook, mood search, tag picker).
12. Multiple bookcases on iPad.
13. Group the Library by genre or tag. New menu in the Library header
(next to "Sort"): in addition to grouping by reading status (as
always), you can now group by genre or by tag. For now only in the
Spines view -- Covers and Mural still group by status.
14. Log progress now asks for more. In addition to "Something about
the book" (already listed), it now also asks for the date (in case
you're logging something from a while ago), what else you were
reading, and what music you were listening to -- the same fields as a
Context entry in Notebook, no longer a trimmed-down version.
Fixes and improvements
1. Available tags couldn't be deleted
2. Reason for inclusion copied to notes when moving to Library
3. Buttons were left floating when moving from Wishlist to Library
4. Couldn't scroll to fill in Genre or Author
5. Buttons hidden behind the new iPad tab bar
6. Photos taken at the bookstore looked bad as covers
7. Genre in Capture wasn't being saved
8. Captured book reappeared in Capture after moving it to Library
9. Log progress from "Continue reading" didn't save anything to Diary.
10. Screen header showed through behind the floating card. When opening
the Capture or Wishlist card, a piece of the title ("Capture"/
"Wishlist") was visible at the very top, behind the card.
11. Square photos in the Library's Covers view. A real photo that
didn't have a book cover's proportions (for example, a square one)
appeared shrunk with a colored margin around it instead of filling the
same size as the generated covers.
