HitranLab is an application that enables users to conveniently and swiftly read, display and analyze standard (.par files) HITRAN line-by-line data sets.
HitranLab is a lightweight macOS application for quickly inspecting and simulating HITRAN .par files without writing code. It is not intended to replace HITRANonline, HAPI, MODTRAN, or custom research software. HitranLab is designed for fast visual inspection of HITRAN line-by-line data from a native macOS desktop app. It is useful when you want to load a .par file, select molecules, view stick spectra, apply simple broadening, compare absorbance and transmittance, and export results quickly.
Key Features:
• Graphical user interface to easily select molecule(s), spectral range, and minimum line strength and load HITRAN-format .par files
• Display HITRAN stick plot - line strength versus wavenumber. Stick plot may be displayed with either linear or logarithmic line-strength scaling.
• Simulate broadened spectra using Gaussian, Lorentzian, or pseudo-Voigt profiles and display as absorbance or transmittance versus wavenumber
• Display x-axis in units of wavenumber (cm-1) or wavelength (micron)
• Adjust individual burdens (ppm-meter) for each molecule
• Interactive cursor displays information on individual features. In stick mode, the cursor displays line-specific information, including molecule, isotopologue, line strength, lower-state energy, and HITRAN quantum assignments when available. In simulation mode, the cursos display x- and y-values.
• Zoom supported by dragging the mouse across the plot, then reset the view when needed
• Export data as CSV or text files for use in other analysis programs
• Export the displayed plot panel as a JPEG
• Demo mode included to evaluate the app without downloading a HITRAN file
HitranLab can be useful for:
• Exploring infrared molecular spectra
• Inspecting HITRAN line positions and strengths
• Comparing spectral regions for different molecules
• Generating simulated absorbance or transmittance spectra
• Visualizing gas-phase spectra over selected wavenumber intervals
• Exporting calculated spectra for external analysis
• Teaching or demonstrating HITRAN line-by-line spectral data
Important Notes:
• HitranLab does not include the HITRAN database. Users are responsible for obtaining HITRAN data files separately from the official HITRAN.
• HitranLab is an independent application. It is not an official HITRAN product and is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with the HITRAN database or the Atomic and Molecular Physics Division of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center.
