Baha'i Readings is a quiet, personal companion for the central writings of the Baha'i Faith. Browse 600+ works - from Gleanings and The Hidden Words to The Kitab-i-Aqdas, Some Answered Questions, and more - in a reader designed to feel like a book, not a web page.
Read at your own pace. Switch between light, sepia, and dark themes, pick serif or sans, and choose from five reading sizes. The reader remembers where you left off in every writing, so returning is one tap.
Search across everything at once. Type a phrase and the app scans every writing and shows matches grouped by book, with a snippet for each hit. Searches are diacritic- and case-insensitive, so Baha finds Baha'u'llah.
Keep your place, your highlights, and your notes. Save a favorite, jot a note, tie a passage to a thought. Everything lives on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Listen mode reads any writing aloud. Choose a speed and let the words come to you while you walk, cook, or commute.
A gentle starter path. New to the Writings? Answer one question about what you are looking for - solace, growth, or curiosity - and the app suggests five short passages to begin with.
Private by default. No account, no sign-in, no ads. The app works entirely offline. A small anonymous counter (e.g. "a writing was opened") tells us the app is alive; no text, no identifiers, and no IP address is collected or stored.
A small, careful app. Open it, find a passage, close it, and get on with your day.
Version 1.2.1: the reader reads, immediately.
- Tap a paragraph and the reading starts. The chosen paragraph is underlined, each word lights up as it is read, and the page scrolls to follow the audio.
- Reading continues paragraph after paragraph until you tap pause. Tap a different paragraph at any time to jump there.
- Audio is pre-rendered for every paragraph in every writing, so there is no waiting on a server. Tap, hear the words.
- Streamed playback - no large download, no waiting screen. The audio starts within a second of your tap.
