Hydrocephalus Procedure

This interactive graphic will give you a vivid, visual understanding of hydrocephalus and the options for treating it. One of those treatments is a newer, safer and more effective procedure available at Stanford Children's Health. You're able to understand the nature of the condition and treatments by navigating through them interactively, rotating parts of the anatomy with your fingers, and even performing a simplified, non-gory simulation of the procedure yourself. That procedure, called an endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV), does not involve the implantation of permanent equipment, unlike the older treatment, known as a shunt.
