so I have purchased all but a few of us guys apps and the two I most consistently use our Soft Drummer and this one. All of them are well worth the cost if you are serious about devising, interesting new beats if you’re looking for something to actually record studio quality, drums, I would say future drummer could cut that mustard probably not any of the others, but playing along with any one of them is really one of the best drum machine apps experience youll have. my only nit to pick is something technical about the other drummers available for purchase. I purchased the clyde drummer using my phone and I can access it on my phone but not on my iPad. I’d be happy to purchase it again for my iPad but I can’t even get that option. I did email the guy who makes this and he got back to me once but he didn’t respond the second round of requests for fixing it.again, a small nit to pick but i really want that clyde kit, get it?
Update w more pro tones please?

I think Lumbeat is King of the drummer apps in all categories except for two:Tones - On the kit based drummers I feel like the samples are really not comparable to high quality packs out there and I crave that extra polish and richness I get when working with great packs. You can run MIDI out for Lumbeat but then it’s more work on the processor and more headaches, esp if what you’re running into isn’t GM. If Soft, Funk and Rock had stronger quality tones that would be a huge upgrade for me. I’ve solved this problem as best I could by using mostly Soft for live and creating an fx chain as a master but I think it would be so much more inspiring to work with a master to enhance more good things instead.Design - it’s intense and unintuitive, but it’s useable so no stars off for that. I just feel overwhelmed even after using the apps for years. I feel the information and choices could be presented more beautifully and elegantly, with greater organization. But the usability, the playability, the feature set, the tones not sucking so bad I don’t want to use the app, the MIDI out option and exporting midi or audio, and so much more, really make up for those complaints time and time again. There is no drum app like this on iOS and if Lumbeat ports to desktop I will be there in a heartbeat.I use Logic’s smart drummer on desktop but throw on higher quality kits for the MIDI to port into and I still prefer Lumbeat’s internal set up over the smart drummer in logic. Wish there was a software like this for desktop use!
Developer Response
Hi Davesongs, Really appreciate this detailed feedback, it's clear you've put serious time into pushing Funk Drummer and the whole Lumbeat lineup to their limits. Tone quality on the kit-based drummers and a more streamlined, elegant UI are exactly the kind of improvements we're continuing to work on, and MIDI/audio export plus the playability you mentioned remain core to what we're building on.Thanks again for sticking with Lumbeat over the years and for such thoughtful notes.

Funk Drummer offers a good variety of grooves and the ability to program a head to sequence different styles and even kits. If you put it in an application like AUM mixer/bus and use of a AUV3 plug-ins, you can direct record beats and funk around with the feel to your soulful delight. With adjustable swing and multiple real drummer screws emulated, this is a powerhouse app that could be used for demos or even professional studio applications. If you’re not satisfied with the in-house sounds, drop it in a DAW, or start it in AUM and direct-record out into Audioshare or a DAW for live performance/recording sessions. I have a needed to look any further than the customizable sounds that are in it, but I’m going to bet that this is a very nice midi controller. I love the odd meter and fusion groove templates. I’d love some more of the odd meter. And I am impressed by Nete Smith, which seems to be a great synthesis/combination of 2 great beatsmiths, Nate Smith and Steve Smith. Keep it funky!
eeeYYYYoooo!!!!😮🤫😲

I’ve been using the very GLITCHY CDUBS LOOPS Zappa for about 2 years now, which also kept me lazy. It got the job done primarily in a moderate small church situation. Yet again, GLITCHY and each update seems to make it less and less reliable. So, late last night my playlists were totally erased. Long story short, I opened this app again remembering how dope it was yet was too spoiled to truly learn it. I was able to use it today f maybe 8 song playlist. I can mix each individual drum; effects like compression and DELAY 🗣OOO. The DELAAAAAY!!😱. My music today got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS. I had people coming up to my keyboard, sending me text etc that the music was so good today. JAM INTENSITY😱😱. SONG MODE!?!?! MARTINEZ IS A GENIUSand very thoughtful developer THANKS!!! AND I was able to load it IAA into AUM
• Studio Mix: Console (with REEL, a studio tape machine), Room, Punch, 11 more chains and DAW automation. Listen before you buy; one purchase unlocks it in every Lumbeat app
• Effects redesigned: new compressor, visual EQ, tempo-synced delay, limiter and 4 one-tap mix chains, with ‹ › to step through them, Bypass and Revert
• Mixer: one SEND knob per track, level meters on the faders, and a button to maximize the mixer or the effects
• MIDI controls: MODE # switches between Live Pads, Song and Sound Module; FILL ON CHANGE ON / OFF, ignored when already in that state; new END and END NO CRASH, one last hit on the next downbeat, then stop (no fill)
• iPhone: the mixer's corner button turns it sideways, and the sideways mixer and drum kit have their own Play button
• Live Pads remember Cross / Snare and Ride / Hats, also when you change them while the pad plays
• SAVE lights up after toggling Cross or Ride on a saved rhythm, and saves that version as a new rhythm
• Song Parts: new CROSS button next to RIDE, to play a part with cross-stick
• Plug-in: Play and FILL ► after a stop come back in on the rhythm's own bar when its time signature differs from the host's (a 3/4 waltz in AUM)
• Plug-in: steadier playback when you move the playhead, bounce from mid-song or rewind in the DAW
• Live Pads: long press a pad to CLEAR it, or drag it to move or swap it. New sets go to the end of the list, so set numbers never shift
• Songs can now be sent to Rock Drum Machine
• Received grooves: with Jam up, Funk Drummer re-plays them in its own style
• Performance and bug fixes
