Altimeter uses your device’s GPS chip to determine your elevation and location. To maximize battery life, the chip is only activated when the app is open on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. This means there is no background activity, and your location is not stored.
Note
Accuracy depends on GPS satellite reception. Reception is limited indoors.
Continuous use of GPS can significantly reduce battery life.

For the last several years, I have relied on this app to both determine as well as bookmark for future reference the altitude of the location, some visiting, I’m not a professional, or amateur hiker, camper, or an adventure. However, it is very interesting to find out how different the nature is a different altitudes. For example, when I was visiting different areas of Serengeti and Ngorongoro national parks. The epic solid, absolutely nonintrusive and performs flawlessly, doing exactly what it is expected to do. Highly recommended.
Works on watch without requiring iphone

Altitude is updated to current position as soon as you open the app. Many altitude apps don’t work without your iphone nearby, on, and communicating with your apple watch. This one works without the need for the iphone. the other app i found that works without the iphone doesn’t update to current position unless you open it twice.
Yay!

I was unhappy with my old altimeter because I had to switch back and forth between screens to see meters and feet. Then I found this app, used it and it was perfect. Then I used the extra features for supporters. For the yearly price it was a no brainer! Love its clean design and intuitive interface. Made in Switzerland so of course it’s fabulous!

It truly makes a difference and allows me to keep improving the app and adding new features. And your kind words about the design and the Swiss touch made my day!Wishing you many great adventures and stunning views. Greetings from Switzerland!
Works great

Works great but would like to see a complication for Apple Watch if that would be possible in the near future other than that everything works fine
Developer Response
Hi. Thx for your feedback and 5 star rating! Yes, a complication view I'd like, too. Unfortunately the current watchOS will update the complication each 30 minutes at most. Wouldn't this be confusing? But I'll keep an eye on it and will add as soon as possible.
• Smart Radar Zoom: The radar view now zooms automatically so you can keep all your pins in view
• Fresh Look: Buttons, icons, and colors now look cleaner and more polished
• Improved Translations: We've reviewed and corrected the text throughout the app
• Various minor bug fixes for improved reliability
