Fun Game. Great Developer.

I bought the app store version of the game with all down load content available on the app store. The game is a nice update to XCOM. It does take a newer machine to run the game. I am on a 13’ MacBook pro 2016 and for me it runs fine. I don’t expect to use the highest graphic settings. I am a fan of strategy games that I can stop and take my time to make a move. I do think there are too many missions in which everything is timed. I do like the how customized I can get on my soldiers. On average, I complete the game at around 30 hours. You also need to plan the rooms on the Avenger. Limited space makes your choices feel as if they matter. If you liked XCOM, you most likely will love this update. As for the download content, everything is available but the Chosen expansion pack. For those of us who bought this version and want to play the Chosen pack, the developer as stated that you should contact them directly. Don’t post here about the issue. Get in touch with them, they worked with me and took care of me. They met and exceeded my expectations.
Works perfectly, amazing game!

I have the 13’ inch, 2016 MacBook Pro with a 2.0 ghz processor, which is below the minimum requirements, but the game works perfectly for me. It has slightly long load times when loading the battles, but runs perfectly smooth during the gameplay. I don’t have the resolution and a couple other things just above the lowest settings and it looks great, much better than I had anticipated. I wrote all of that for those like me who wondered if they could run the game or not. Now, as for the gameplay, fantastic. It is very similar to Enemy Unknown, just updated with more interesting soldiers and abilities. I am a father of two and run a company, so I don’t play many games, and most games are not that interesting to me any more, but I bought this because I loved the originals. I thought I would get bored of it quickly, but it has been the opposite experience. The more I play it, the more I want to play. I love thinking out my turns and seeing the wins, and I have a love/hate relationship with losing my soldiers because I hate losing them but love that it amps up the intensity and realism. The only downside I have at the moment is the Avatar project, which is a countdown system in the game that forces you to advance in the game in order to lower the doomsday event which ends in you losing. Being a turn-based game, people attracted to it, like myself, are largely going to be people who like to slowly, methodically think things through before making their moves. I like to take my time, even in the campaign. Adding a doomsday meter in the campaing takes that from me and doesn’t let me build up my forces and slowly work through the game like I enjoy doing. I wish there was an option to turn that off so I didn’t feel rushed. I know there are cheats and mods, but at the time of writing this review they don’t seem to be available for Mac, at least not easily because I can’t figure out how to get them to work.

Not the same game as the ipad version
MadDash4theWin
If you want to play this game on your Mac you need to purchase it through Steam. You CANNOT download the entire game through the Mac App store. If you played the app version on your iPad the computer version IS more developed. That said, it is not made for Mac. This $50 purchase won't give you access to the complete game. It is missing several key features and the goal is to have you purchase add ons in the game. If you do fork over the cash it is still not the full game. The full purchase (available on steam) is roughly $80. It is a fun game, I am just frustrated by the bate and switch tactic to get more money. Bad form by both Apple and the game maker Feral. Deceitful.
Developer Response
XCOM 2 on the Mac App Store contains the full XCOM 2 game. The War of the Chosen DLC is not available via the App Store due to issues with the delivery of the DLC, which is too large for the App Store download process. This is in no way a tactic to get more money. If you wish to purchase the DLC, please contact us via support@feralinteractive.com and we should be able to help you get access to the War of the Chosen DLC.
Great one

Its the same game, but with some twists. I don’t mind this at all as I have played in every level many times and never got tired of it. The way tp build a base, to admin your resources and all makes this game very enjoyable. If you liked XCOM franchise, you probably will like this one too. Expect addictment.Do note, that those that put a bad rating, do it with hate because they could not run the game.
