Video Game Name Generator
69 million terrible game ideas
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Now with a classroom mode, a name of the day, shareable box art, and four themes. Still no accounts, no ads and no internet connection.
Pull the lever. Get a video game name that should not exist.
Attack of the Radioactive Zamboni. Super Sleepy Ninja 64. Battlefield: Ballet Apocalypse. Three reels, 1,248 hand-picked words, and 69,393,510 names waiting behind them.
Tap a word you like and it locks. The other two keep spinning until the rest of the name catches up.
WHAT IT DOES
• Three-reel slot machine with a proper staggered stop
• Tap any word to lock it and reroll the others
• A genre and a plausible release year for every name
• Name of the Day — the same name for everyone, everywhere, with no server involved
• Streaks for coming back
• Favorites and history, searchable
• Fake box art you can share: five cover styles, three shapes
• Four themes: Modern, Arcade CRT, Neon and Paper
• Attract mode, so it can just sit there generating
• Shake to generate
• Stats, including what fraction of all possible names you have actually seen
FOR CLASSROOMS AND GAME JAMS
A full-screen timer that holds each name for 10 seconds to 2 minutes — enough to design a game around it. Or generate five at once and let the room vote. There is a family filter, on by default.
Teachers use it as a writing and design prompt. Game jams and hack-a-thons use it to hand a team a title before they have an idea.
NO NONSENSE
No accounts. No advertising. No in-app purchases. No analytics. No tracking. No internet
connection at all — the app does not even ask for permission to use one, because it has nothing to send.
Everything stays on your device.

Version 3 — the app has been rebuilt from the ground up.
NEW
• Name of the Day — the same name for everyone, changing daily, with no server involved
• Streaks, and stats showing what fraction of all 69,393,510 names you have seen
• Shareable box art: five cover styles, three shapes
• A genre and a plausible release year for every name
• Classroom mode — a full-screen timer, or generate five and let the room vote
• Four themes: Modern, Arcade CRT, Neon and Paper
• Attract mode, and shake to generate
• A family filter, on by default
• Favorites, and a searchable history you can clear
IMPROVED
• New reels with a proper staggered stop
• Sharing now uses the standard iOS share sheet, so a name or its box art can go anywhere — not only the two services the old version supported
• Follows your device's Reduce Motion setting, with Full, Reduced and Off if you would rather choose yourself
• Higher contrast throughout, measured against WCAG AA
• The app now requests no permissions at all, and makes no network connection of any kind
Your favorites and history from the previous version are imported automatically the first time
you open this one. Nothing is removed from the old app in the process.
Been going since 2013.
