As featured in Computer Active magazine, June 2019: "a great tool to take on holiday for a live translation"
Subtitles Viewer LIVE displays subtitles for what you just said! Optionally you can translate what you are saying to another language!
So useful in many ways -
• communicate with loved ones with hearing difficulties
• make new friends who speak different languages, who you couldn't have communicated with otherwise!
• find your way around on your own in a foreign country
• use as a learning tool to learn languages
Don't forget Subtitles Viewer LIVE on your next overseas trip!
Many languages are available: English, Arabic(العربية), Cantonese(广东话), Czech(čeština), Danish(Dansk), Dutch(Nederlands), Finnish(Suomi), French(Française), German(Deutsch), Greek(ελληνικά), Hungarian(magyar), Indonesian(Bahasa Indonesia), Italian(Italiano),Japanese(日本語), Korean(한국어), Mandarin(普通话), Norwegian(norsk), Polish(Polskie), Portuguese(português), Romanian(Română), Russian(русский язык), Slovak(slovenský), Spanish(Español), Swedish(svenska), Thai(ภาษาไทย) and Turkish(Türk).
It recognizes my voice quite accurately, translations are good quality. Note that Settings button is hard to spot!

Wishful Cook - Don’t be disappointed! Try this as per Craig, the app developer, who couldn’t have been nicer when I wrote to him about this: “So this app can do several things - one thing it can do is simply to provide subtitles for what people are saying around you in the language they are speaking - and that can be in English. If that's all you want - you can go to the settings (look for the cog icon in the bottom left corner) and turn off the translateswitch.”The app will do what you want, at least at close range. I am looking forward to trying it - so far I have only had the chance to try it with my own voice like a dictation service, but that worked pretty well on my first try a few minutes ago! I don’t really have enough to go on yet to rate this app a 5, but will do so for now just given the possibility of the help it offers.
Disappointing

This seems like a useful app for translating spoken languages into a different language. I was hoping to use it to be able to caption what people are saying around me since I’m Deaf and it would be awesome to be able to read in English what people say to me in English. But I guess I’m going to have to ask people to speak in other languages in order to be able to understand them in English with this app, because it refuses to subtitle spoken English in written English. Even though it does so for any other language - so why not add English as well?
Developer Response
Hi Wishful Cook! So this app can simply provide subtitles for what people are saying around you in the language they are speaking - and that can be in English. If that's all you want - you can go to the settings (look for the cog icon in the bottom left corner) and turn off the translate switch. You can also select the 'audio language' there. If you want to translate to another language, you would turn this switch on, and then select the language you want to translate to where it says 'translate to'. Of course translating from English to English doesn't make sense, so it gives you an error if you try to do this. I will try to improve this error message to avoid this misunderstanding in future.Hope that helps. Feel free to get in touch via support email if you need further help.
Promising but doesn’t work well

Am trying to find an app that I can use during meetings for closed captioning. I just can’t follow meetings that are audio only. I have to see what’s being said in order to absorb it. I turn my computer all the way up and it finally detects it. The issue is I have to keep hitting the listen button. It keeps stopping in the middle of talking. Which defeats the purpose. I’ve tried it with just spoken word and only shows a couple words if I’m lucky and then I have to press the listen button again. Could use some improvements. Will be checking back to see if these issues are fixed.
Fixed issue with volume of translated text.
