This is a great app, but it would be nice if it added a category for opponent’s errors forced. Right now, it records the shot that actually was an opponent’s forced error, but it doesn’t record the shot that caused the opponent’s forced error. For example, if I hit a forehand groundstroke that caused my opponent to make a forced error on his backhand groundstroke, it would be nice to record that. Thus, instead of recording three categories for each stroke for analysis at the end of the match (winners, forced errors, and unforced errors), it could record four categories for each stroke (winners, opponent’s errors forced, forced errors, and unforced errors).

Very simple yet very useful app

I have been looking for an app like this for a long time and this is almost it! My sons play USTA tournaments to better know what the players need to improve on. I only gave it 4 stars because it doesn’t allow to break down winners and errors by category. For instance, after hitting the “winner” button the app could prompt “baseline or net” and then “forehand or backhand” (maybe adding “overhead” for a net point). For these added features/insights and unlimited access I would be willing to pay serious $$!Thanks for considering ma request and feel free to contact me back.

App not working

At some point the app has crashed and never recovered after. It displays “Welcome NULL” instead of my name. Log out option is missing in this state. If I try to reinstall the app login option is displayed however it doesn’t allow me to login with my credentials, and shows unreadable error messages when I try to recover my password. Support doesn’t respond. iOS.Update: after reinstalling the app several times it started working again. App is cool.

I really like this. It helps me break things down for my daughter. I can make the match simple. I’d like to see what stroke made the error and what actually happened. Was it a forehand or backhand error? Did it go long or into the net? This would take the analysis to another level. We used to do this by hand and it was nice to see. Also, can you put in a place to record the number of balls hit in the rally? It would be beneficial, specially for younger kids. It’s great to see serve percentage. This had helped so much. Thanks and if you’re looking for an app, this is the one to explore.

NEW:
• Stroke Lab (Beta), with Elite: film a practice and Smashpoint counts your strokes, names each one and measures it, from hip-shoulder turn to estimated racket and ball speed. A Focus card picks the one thing to work on, with a drill for next time. History plays every stroke with its skeleton at full, half or quarter speed, and you can correct any label. Film from the baseline or the net post, with an Apple Watch as the remote or a second iPhone or iPad as the camera.
• Official Match Mode for clubs: a club official records a match under the club's rules, ITF or USTA, with code and time violations and their penalties, medical and toilet breaks, rain and darkness delays, corrections and a final sign-off. Everyone following the match live sees the official's calls, and a sanctioned result carries a purple seal.
• Elite by the month, as well as by the year.
• New accounts start with a 7-day Elite trial.
• Club invitations on Home: accept an invitation to join a club, or to take it over as its owner, right in the app.
• The Subscription page shows how much of your plan's video storage you have used.
• Groups: search and filter a group's results. Rankings show the period you choose, with places gained or lost since the period before.
IMPROVED:
• A practice says who you practised with: a coach, a partner, a ball machine, or alone.
• Add your height in centimeters or feet and inches, for yourself and for your players, for more accurate Stroke Lab speeds.
• Players you invite show Invited, or Bounced with a way to fix the address, and you can resend an invite.
• Replays you have watched play from your iPhone without downloading again, and uploads carry on with Smashpoint in the background.
• A club match keeps the Home, Away or Neutral you chose, and the club's owners, admins and officials can edit its matches.
• A level match shows the winner you picked, and a retirement always has a winner.
• Smash is now called Overhead, the word players and coaches use.
• Apple Watch: start Stroke Lab from the Watch with Stroke Lab +, and the complication opens Smashpoint.
