The Apex is the world’s most popular aquarium monitoring and control system.
From anywhere in the world, with your internet-connected Apex system and this app, you can:
- Monitor the health of your aquarium by observing current and past history of your Temperature, pH, ORP, Salinity and much more (depending on how your Apex System is equipped of course)
- Control the equipment on your aquarium - lights, pumps, heater, etc. Turn them off and on, adjust the lighting spectrum, change pump modes and many other functions.
- Observe your aquarium via connected IP web cams.
- Enter key water testing parameters such as Alkalinity, Calcium, Phosphates, etc.
- Enter notes about observations of your aquarium, maintenance, fish health, etc.
- Remotely feed your fish, right from your handheld device!
- Monitor and control more than one aquarium - either yours or friends.
- Get immediate iOS notifications when something goes wrong in your aquarium (leaks, overheating, pH out of range, water level issues, etc.)
Requires:
Any Apex System (Apex, ApexEL, Apex Classic, Apex Gold, Apex Lite, or Apex Jr.)
The Apex, and your iOS device, must both be connected to the internet
An Apex Fusion account (Apex Fusion is our free, cloud-based service)
I do appreciate having access to my Apex in an app, rather than having to go to the web. That said, this app clearly could be dramatically improved.• it’s clearly a hybrid app, written with a tool that supports multiple platforms. As a result it has a super confusion workflow and doesn’t feel like an iOS app. My biggest gripe is that swipe gestures don’t go back, and they don’t utilize a tab bar at the bottom. • the app often stalls at launch and has to be force quit and relaunched, or renders wrong so that it only uses half of the display• no support for widgets or other iOS features that would make a lot of sense. If you’re downloading this app, it’s not like you have another choice. You want this to manage your Apex Aquarium controller. That said, I really wish Neptune would invest in making a great app instead of settling for this mediocre one.
Room for improvement

Great app, works well but not that user friendly. I appreciate the tour guide which def makes set up easier but it still feels clunky and for someone who’s not tech savvy, it can get complicated or difficult to grasp. Another thing I would love to see is widget support. Having to open the app every single time I need to do something such as turning off a pump or activating a feed cycle. Another thing is for the DOS. When setting it for auto water change the “in out” labels on the left pump don’t match the label on the pump which is fine. Where id like to see an improvement, if I set the right pump to “on” to remove water, it actually works as the pump is labeled. Basically it pumps waste water BACK INTO the sump.
Major flop

For what is essentially a tech company Neptune Systems really dropped the ball on this app. It isn’t user friendly. It isn’t well designed. It is flowing or smooth. It’s a clunky, jumbled mess. They clearly spent the minimum on development and moved on. It doesn’t utilize widgets which would be huge for a controller. Instead of taking the time to open an app you could just glance at your Home Screen. But does Neptune allow that? Absolutely not. Because they rarely listen to their user base. It’s their way or the highway. Always has been. Always will be. Until there is a culture change at Neptune don’t expect things to get better for the end users. But we don’t have a choice. We are stuck with Neptune. Nobody else enters this space because Neptune is a cult following.
Great for control - could be better

First I love the functionality of seeing what is plugged in and then writing if/then rules to turn stuff off and getting alerts on parameters. As others have said please please add a widget for iOS.Also I find it ridiculous that the data set view is only 7 days long. I want to view parameters swings over months and then view how things have changed. The fact I have to scroll to see and then can only view that week is so silly for a hobby that takes a longterm approach to changes.
