The review by Slawguhy is true (game is not ptw). He said it's a slow crawl and meant to be an adventure you play for months/years. This is absolutely true. I've been playing for about 4.5 years now. And while i have spent money here and there, it's not necessary. One thing I've learned over the years is that spending is a gamble similar to winning the lottery (you have a 1.3% chance of pulling legendary heroes in almost every event and theme). But there is a building you get much later in the game that can produce these heroes for free (albeit, also a low chance of getting what you want or need). The benefit of this is that it offers A LOT of variety in PvP and PvE play. If everyone got so the good heroes all the time, everyone would have the same teams. One AMAZING thing about this game that i can't say about many other games is that the ads are completely optional. There are two areas that give ads. One gives random loot and the other gives random low level heroes and troops in exchange for watching. So they're not just optional, they're not necessary for gameplay. You can literally play this game for years without having to pay a dime or watch a single ad! I've never played a mobile game as long as i have played this one. The graphics are great, bugs are infrequent (almost never encounter), it's a lot of fun! Definitely give it a try and see for yourself.

The reviews on here that state you have to “pay to win” and “never guaranteed you do win when you spend x amount” are Bogus claims. Playing this game is a marathon, not a dAsh to the finish. It’s team building; material farming adventure that takes months to get every character and item your so desperately wanting. The Months it takes to lever characters, upgrade buildings, play through the story and quests takes time and patience. You can spend money to get the things your so desperately wanting now with odd/chances against you OR you can just play the game and wait for the quest and tournaments to give you the items your wanting(takes time) What your goals in the gameplay can also differ. So any reviews telling you about bad character/teams or not getting them. Those people know they spend money with odd slim and change with every season. and spending money is no guarantee to any item due to the lottery/change type of buying. They tell you the % of chance to get certain items/If your looking for a game you can dig into, put in the time needed to make it the team and build it have patience because they give you gem to spend, they give you many items to build you characters. Been playing this game for nigh on 5 years now. As has been previously noted, you need not purchase anything to play. The game constantly offers ‘packages’ for sale at an exorbitant cost for value and it is definitely not ‘micro-transactions’ when the cost of most packages average between $30-$99 US. Buying anything to get legendary level heroes is pretty much a solid gamble as it rarely offers them. The in-house recruits you can get via the one building is extremely low level, to include the Legendary heroes. There are new heroes released regularly and if one refuses to pay to try and get them will end up resulting in your pretty strong base of heroes easily getting defeated by the new heroes of less ranking. When a player using older heroes goes up against a player with 1/2 the supposed power but with the newer heroes and gets thoroughly stomped lends me to believe, if one wants to compete in the various challenges one must spend to try and get newer heroes.. Also getting Legendary heroes maxed out is almost impossible as items needed can only be obtained by completing insanely hard levels and some items you cannot get unless you just simply purchase them. I have legendary characters from 4 years ago I cannot max out due to this. Outside of this, the game play is solid. The game has next to no bugs. I play extremely casually and generally stay away from competitions as I quickly learned it is a waste of time since I will not gamble large sums of coin on the hope that maybe, possibly, I can get decent new heroes to maybe compete.

This game is set up to tempt you to spend money to get better rewards. Once upon a time I would do just that. Then I came to the realization that even if you spend lots of money it doesn’t always help. For example: you spend to get enough gems to make a 10 hero pull instead of just a hero here and there. Well you’d be lucky to get one 5 star hero, and you’d faint if you received a hero of the month. Also the game seems to give one element a disadvantage. I’ve been playing for nearly two years and I have plenty of 5 star heroes, but not one 5 star fire/red hero... It is still one of my favorite games, but I don’t spend nearly as much as I did before. At the most if they give a discount plus extra gems for VIP then I’ll get it. Other than that I really don’t bother anymore. The raids are random (you win against a higher level player and lose against a lower level one.) The tiles do seem to give you more of what you don’t need in critical times. So the money used to give you an advantage was just useless... Just know that if you play this game this is how it works: you either have patience and don’t spend money. It will take you a long time to progress and you will get very few premiums. The other possibility is you want to progress faster so you choose to pay-to-play. You think you’ll buy this package and that package until next thing you know you’ve spent more money than you intended. It’s your money, you do you, but just be warned this game is made for spending it!
