I’m updating my rating for this app based on customer service. I initially thought I lost all my data and photos of plants I own, but they let me know that I accidentally created a new account (not sure how I didn’t notice that...). So thank you for clarifying it for me and I have all my data!This app is very handy to keep track of watering/fertilizing, etc. especially when you have so many plants! I would love to be able to create more groups (on top of area groups) like groups per kind of plants (ex. Succulents, houseplants, etc) to find plants quicker. Also, it would be great if each plant profile has water button to push every time I water instead of toggling to event. But overall, I’m very satisfied with the app.

The Gardenize app has been the best app for me. I am an amateur gardener that keeps records of each plant I own, which is well over 200 individual flowers and shrubs and I am fast approaching 250. I absolutely love this app and the ease it has afforded me to log each plant and keep up with all my plants. I have been using it for one year and it has revolutionized gardening for me! This app has allowed me to not have to carry a large three ring binder around the yard or go back inside to record notes or future plans for a plant or garden area. Literally, all I need is my cell phone or a tablet to record everything I need for my gardens! And it can be done in real time or any time. Literally, I can take a picture of the plant and start a new plant record while on the spot in the garden in real time. Also, l love that I don’t have to save all the many plastic plant labels when planting new plants to later put into a bound notebook. Instead, I take a picture of the plant label, which includes the plants specific growing info, and add it to my inventory within the app. At any time within seconds, I can update any of my plant’s information with a new photo or note about the plant while strolling through my gardens. Having a quick reference where I store photos of each plant is a real plus. I always have my full record of plants with me at all times to either share with someone, to search for a plant or update my records! No waiting until I get back home to search for it in my bound notebook. I love this App! You should give it a try!

I want to call this app perfect but I just cannot. There are a couple of bugs I would love to see fixed. Firstly, the app closes regularly when I am switching between applications. I cannot possibly remember everything I need to enter for one plant, but often the app closes while in the midst of switching back and forth to find the information I need for a new plant. Secondly, it is super slow to update between devices. While it closes frequently and then updates and syncs on reopening, I can log out and move to another mobile device but everything I changed has not actually synced on the new device. The restart upon close is super slow. It can take up to 2 minutes sometimes for it to open upon first use. Is it really necessary to only allow it to open on one device at a time? I often switch between my tablet and my phone, yet everytime I have to do so I am waiting for the spinning ball of death to log me in and sync, even though it is not actually syncing until later.I have looked at other similar apps and nothing comes close, but these problems are annoying enough after five months of use for me to look elsewhere. No one else is updating and no other app can do what this one offers. I am sticking with it out of sheer need and hope that updates can improve the experience.

UPDATE: May 2018I love the latest update! Before, the app wouldn’t even open for me if I wasn’t connected to internet and no WiFi was available. Now, it opens whether I have it or not! And I also like the new social networking integration._______________________________________________________________Original Review:I've been searching the App Store for years for an app like this! Don't be intimidated just because the database is empty. If you're new to gardening you can find everything you need to populate your database on the web with just a quick Google search. The beauty of this database is that you can tailor it to your own actual garden. Other apps I've used sometimes had the plants I had in my garden but never the correct varieties (and I wasn't allowed to add them). I live in the Deep South and most of these kinds of apps are tailored for a broader audience (to interest more users). With *this* app, it doesn't matter where you live or what kind of garden you want to have (or even how many!), you can use this app to track everything!!! Also, you aren't just limited to one picture per plant entry. You can show progressions of your plant as it matures. I think my favorite is the journaling part of the app. I've had to track my notes about what I do in my garden separately from the app in the past, but now I can have everything, pictures, notes, events and all that pertain to my garden right in one place. Also, you can track locations so if you have some in the front yard, back yard, patio garden or even by the old saw mill (LOL!) you're covered with this app.
