I use this tool constantly, daily. I highly recommend it to anyone who would prefer to focus on a conversation or professional meeting without taking verbatim typed notes. Do be aware of your state's laws around recording meetings and whether you need to inform others that you are recording. The glitch is that sometimes I will open a new audionote and press "record" and then turn my attention elsewhere only to return to the audionote and see that, although the "record" button had gone from red to white-ish, there was nothing recorded. That has been frustrating. I now watch to be sure that the recording time begins to count up before turning my attention elsewhere, but I do forget sometimes.

I have used this app and its cousin app, "Note Studio," for several years. I use it for business meetings, songwriting, creative ideas, anything that is important, and I want to be sure to recall. It has several advantages that I've yet to find on any other recording app. You can edit the text, and it will update the timestamp, and you can amend the recording and add new ideas later. Some projects span many months—any long-term project or process, from legal meetings, to event planning. I can go back to meetings from years ago and instantly find essential items discussed. I use it on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, and my PC using team members use it on their PCs. Yes, it is indispensable.

So far, this is a really helpful tool. But, common keystroke shortcuts produce really weird and unexpected results. For example CMD Z is almost always "undo" in Macs, but when I do that in Audionote, it messed up all of my recording notes and timestamps. Improved functionality with Mac keystrokes would be helpful.

I've used Audionote for years as a journalist, using it to record and manage audio files. It is a marvelous tool that I wish I had when I was younger. Why one star? It is absoluteley unreliable. I recently came out of "retirement" and started to use Audionote 2. I've grappled with it several times, and it has consistently failed at key points. It can lose files and transcripts at random. It will repeat text phrases several times. And their customer support is garbage. I lost an important file and sent in an urgent message to aid with recovery. I found a fix but decided to wait for their response. Still waiting. I continue to use it hoping that it will work well, which it does 40 percent of the time. But 40 percent is not enough when critical jobs are involved.
