I have used this app for several versions and I used to be a big believer in it. However, the past several months the experience has become unbearable. Every time I go to use it I encounter an error that says the application is damaged and cannot be opened. So, you have to follow these steps (from Omnigroup's help page) "1 - Delete the app from your Mac via the Launchpad app. (In our experience, deleting is more effective than merely dragging it to the Trash or by other methods.) Within the Launchpad, click and hold on the app icon, then click the black “X” icon that appears.2 - Log out of the App Store on your Mac (Menu Bar > > App Store, then Store > Sign Out).3- Reboot your Mac.4- Reopen the App Store, and log back in with your Apple ID (Store > Sign In).5 - Click your account name or photo at the bottom of the sidebar to see your past purchases. Click the Install cloud icon under the app name to reinstall. More information about redownloading past purchases can be found on Apple’s Support Site here."The tone they set is that we can't help it if our app wont work well if you download from App Store. However, I think they put the app on the app store, didn't they? I have never had this experience with any other App I have gotten through the App store. They should take responsibility for their customers experience and fix it or allow the affected customers to download from their website instead without having to repurchase the software again. If they arent happy with the deal they struck with Apple, they shouldnt take it out on us poor paying users!!! My 2 cents. My recommendation would be to definitely not buy through the app store!

Sorry for the frustration this has been causing you. Could you please try 7.12.1 which was released yesterday and see if this is still happening? With some info from other developers investigating the same issue, we did just implement a workaround for a very bizarre OS bug that could result in this error. It involved using AirPlay 2 on specific hardware. If does still occur, we would love to hear from you so we can gather information to hopefully track down what is causing this error. Pro Version does not render Visio projects properly!

Update: After further testing, I’ve determined that the issue is with the VSDX and VDX that LucidChart creates when the drawing is exported to Visio. OmniGraffle cannot open VSDX files generated by LucidChart at all and although it can open VDX files from LucidChart, the drawing is rendered very poorly, where it would be faster to start over than try to fix the problems in OmniGraffle. However, OmniGraffle can open VSDX files created by native MS Visio, albeit with some minor rendering issues. So, OmniGraffle Pro technically can do as it claims (import native Visio files), but it’s not 100% perfect. The same goes for exporting to Visio from OmniGraffle Pro. Since it mostly lives up to its claims, I’ve increased my rating to 4 stars.I just upgraded to the Pro Version, so that I could import Visio projects from work colleagues. However, some VSDX files cannot be opened, forcing my colleagues to export the project as an older VDX format. When OmniGraffle does open a Visio file (VSDX or VDX), the shapes, labels, and lines are there, but the arrangement of these objects is very wrong. This forces me to spend a lot of time fixing the imported file, just so I can make a simple change. What’s worse, when I export the OmniGraffle project to Visio, my work colleagues run into similar issues when opening the file in MS Visio. So, it would seem that the claim by OmniGraffle that the Pro version is compatible with Visio is not 100% true. Sure, it can mostly import Visio files, but they are not rendered correctly, so what’s the point? And this product cost way too much to have these issues! Wish I could get a refund for this software, as I feel misled by false claims.
Omnigraffle - once great, now awful

When I first switched to mac maybe 15 years ago, this tool was amazing. Blew Visio out of the water. Version 6 was bad, and Version 7 is worse. Almost none of the templates work for any complex diagram types. If you want to just draw a few blocks and link them together, then this tool will work, but in 2020, there are a dozen good free online tools that do that. If you want to do ERDs, Class Diagrams, architectural diagrams with call outs and communicate effectively, you'll end up severly frustrated. Almost NONE of the default stencils for complex types now work correctly, with basic resizing errors and graphics stupidity - a class box where the class name area resizes when you stretch the box vertically. Corners that don't stay a fixed radius, but resize width and height indepentently leaving your diagrams looking sloppy and embarrassingly horrible. This tool is way too expensive to have this level of functionality not work, and I don't know what we paid for in the last two upgrades, but I have only got less functionality I care about for my money. This tool is a giant rip off. Save your money and use any one of the free online diagram tools, you'd be glad you did.

I own a few Macs and frequently upgrade them. However, I’ve noticed an issue with OmniGraffle 7. Whenever I launch it for the first time on a new machine or a rebuilt one, the licensing seems to be broken. I recently upgraded to a new Mac, but it won’t restore the in-app purchases, even though the full copy with all the upgrades is running smoothly on my old machine (using the same Apple ID for the App Store). On the other hand, every other non-Omni app works perfectly after the upgrade, except for Omni. This is particularly frustrating, especially considering the high cost of these apps, which are about 10 times more expensive than others.
• Inspector: Fixed the Inspector sidebar revealing itself when resizing the window on recent macOS 26.x versions.
• Visio Import: Improved .vsdx import compatibility by making the DCMI namespace optional.
• Crash Reporting: Updated crash reporter for compatibility with macOS Tahoe 26.3.
