Unite is a simple and easy-to-use GroupMe app for the Mac. It allows you to send and receive GroupMe messages, all in a native macOS app. You can even share files, photos, locations, GIFs, and websites with your family and friends, right from your Mac!
Notifications alert you as new messages arrive on your Mac, and app icon badges show how many unread messages you have, so you'll never miss a message. Unite allows you to preview and save any photos you receive. You can also view locations your friends send you, participate in polls, create events, and a lot more.
Unite features powerful group management tools, allowing you to create, join, edit, share, and delete groups. You can even add or remove group members, customize group permissions, and view past groups you've been in, right on your Mac. If groups get too distracting, Unite allows you to pin important groups and mute chatty ones.

Great app...wish it had all the features
Tobyopolis
This is a great app to allow me to check my groupme messages on my computer. I wish it had all the features like the calendar events etc that the real app has. That is my only complaint...which is really not much of a complaint.

Refreshing and Images Delayed

Images do not come through in the client for me unless I quit and reopen the app every time there is a new image sent. I have sent in a couple issue reports about this over the last year, but no response or fix has been received. And as of recent, new messages are not flowing through. Even quitting and reopening the app either doesn’t bring in new messages or takes up to an hour for them to appear. Once in a while clicking into another chat and back into the desired chat will make the new messages appear.
Bare minimum here, lacking useful features
ATM is fun
A lot of my organizations in college use GroupMe to stay connected, and it's really annoying to constantly reach for my phone when I need to stay focused on work on my laptop. Therefore, having this app on my computer is great. However, Unite does not support the same useful features that GroupMe does (like polls or seeing who has liked a message). This a disappointment, especially since my organizations constantly use the polls and rely on seeing who has liked what message for efficient communication. Very frustrating.
Developer Response
Support for calendar events, polls, inline replies, and reactions is available in the latest update. You can see who liked a message by hovering your mouse cursor over the reaction. Please contact us if you have more features you'd like to see.
GroupMe / Unite

I like using the GroupMe app on my phone. However, I had to purchase a separate but same app called unite for my Macbook Air. Didn't want to purchase it, but needed to for church comms. Overall, I'm glad I purchased it for my laptop as I can now message and read messages while working and not have to grab my phone. One caveat that I'd like to see them fix is if I read the messages on the Unite app, then it should reflect in the groupme phone app as well and vice versa. Otherwise, a reliable form of communication.
- Create, edit, and access topics
