Spectroscopy is a powerful tool that allows to analyze matter from the spectral component of light. So far, it has been restricted to professionals, considering the cost, the size and complexity of the equipment.
Today, GoSpectro puts the power of spectroscopy in the hands of everyone, offering the world’s most compact and most simple light spectrometers. This application, combined with the GoSpectro accessory, allows to turn any smartphone into a light spectrometer in order to measure, record, analyze and export spectral data. It is the ideal companion for students, professionals or anyone who needs to measure a light spectrum on the go.
This enables to perform material characterization and analysis with an ultra-compact device natively connected to the internet, with applications in gemology (gem identification), food industry (color measurement, allergen detection), water quality (pollution detection), academia/teaching, anti-counterfeiting, art, etc.
The data analysis of the visible spectrum is extremely useful and easy to use. However, all of these functionality is under cut by the fact that (at least on an iPhone 6S and iPad mini 2nd gen) the app crashes whenever attempting to export the data. Please fix this! The app is pretty much useless if unable to export the data. The only alternative is manual entry into excel point by point using the cursor tracing tool.

Is support still being offered for this app? Similar to another user, the app crashes on my phone when trying to export the files.
App crashes upon calibration
Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace
Without being able to calibrate, this app is functionally useless
Something for nothing!

I don’t have their grating attachment, so I just used a DVD. I was able to more or less calibrate a spectrum of a compact fluorescent bulb and take some spectra. I took a spectrum of a candle previous dipped in salt water and a spectrum of a streetlight — the emission from sodium was very obvious in both. I was able to save and export the spectra. Too bad I can’t paste images in this review.Here’s the streetlight data (wavelength and intensity)354.0 1.2358.9 1.5363.8 2.0368.7 1.8373.6 1.9378.4 2.0383.3 2.4388.2 2.9393.1 2.8398.0 3.1402.9 3.1407.8 3.6412.7 3.8417.6 4.2422.4 4.2427.3 3.9432.2 5.1437.1 4.7442.0 4.6446.9 4.1451.8 3.9456.7 3.6461.6 3.7466.4 3.2471.3 3.9476.2 6.2481.1 8.2486.0 7.9490.9 7.1495.8 4.9500.7 4.1505.6 4.0510.4 4.2515.3 3.3520.2 3.0525.1 3.7530.0 3.3534.9 2.9539.8 3.6544.7 3.9549.6 4.8554.4 5.7559.3 6.8564.2 9.0569.1 11.6574.0 11.4578.9 12.6583.8 13.1588.7 14.0593.6 15.3598.4 16.2603.3 16.1608.2 15.8613.1 16.8618.0 14.6622.9 14.4627.8 12.5632.7 11.4637.6 9.7642.4 9.0647.3 7.5652.2 6.0657.1 5.0662.0 4.6666.9 3.9671.8 3.3676.7 3.2681.6 2.8686.4 2.7691.3 2.9696.2 2.5701.1 2.4706.0 1.8710.9 1.9715.8 2.0720.7 1.7725.6 1.6730.4 1.5735.3 1.7740.2 1.8745.1 1.4750.0 1.4754.9 1.2759.8 1.2764.7 1.3769.6 1.4774.4 1.4779.3 1.3784.2 1.2789.1 1.2794.0 1.4798.9 1.3803.8 1.1808.7 1.0813.6 1.2818.4 1.1823.3 1.3828.2 1.0833.1 1.0838.0 1.0
