I love Mew Pixels and find it a very fun and easy to use app however I wish there was a way to make a gallery for your account. People could then follow you and get notified when you post something new. I also think menus for shapes could be much simpler. Many you select color one of the shape and color two of the shape Manually from a drop down menu type of thing. These are just some suggestions and I hope to see them added in the future. However the game is still great as it is.

New pixels is (sort of?) a pixel art app that lets you create just that, pixel art. Or ‘new pixel’ art, as this app lends a variety of different shaped pixels for you to use. To that extent, it’s a fairly regular artistic app, but with an appealing toolset and color palette. So all in all, the program/app is good, but as of now it’s flawed. There are color combos missing (example: any light purples with any light blues on some mixed pixels) and seems like it could do with something to lock a color/pixel in so you don’t have to continuously tap white just to put three white pixels next to each other. That said, I do think the app requiring you to do that actually works well as it encourages you to keep your picture simple. It more depends on what the developer is going for I suppose, but it would ultimately be more convenient were you able to do this. On that note of convenience, the color selector is rather tedious too, as you can scroll through once or twice and completely miss the color combinations you’re looking for (some of which, again, are actually missing) and might it work better if it were some sort of grid that let you choose a primary and secondary color. The app is nice! It’s a good creative outlet. But I just feel as though there are some rough edges (especially the missing color combos!) that could be worked on.

App is beautiful and user friendly. I run a small record label and E-store; the main art style uses a lot of tiling on square grids. Using New Pixels actually inspired the art direction. I’ve learned though that It’s incredibly hard to make this kind of art in illustrator- New Pixels is the only app that’s doing it.I realize the software is geared towards casual users and not as much graphic designers, but these are the features I’d love to see: -it’s tedious to have to reselect tiles every time you draw; would be much more enjoyable if you could continue drawing even if you lift your finger/stylus. Especially for doing diagonal lines.-Double finger undo + triple finger redo gestures would be cool, I always go for that because I’m used to procreate and affinity designer.-More undo history, at least one or two more. -Png or svg support. I get it if it’s a feature that might confuse casual users though.-Exporting to photos is not working for me. It only works if I share to Dropbox, which is fine but just thought I’d let you know.Kudos to the developers, it’s a lovely app and can’t wait to use more.

The app itself is brand new and has many flaws. But the art is amazing, and you can make the coolest things if you just put 2 hrs into a beautiful piece of art. But there’s also a twitter page for the app (@NewPixelsApp) that really makes it stand out, you can have casual chats with the creator, participate and weekly challenges, and try to get your artwork featured on Twitter! There’s so much more to this app then meets the eye, so find your art and other’s art and express yourself!
