This is a fantastic game; I love the physics and it’s genuinely fun; there’s nothing else like it. However, I would love if I could buy any board for $1-$5 instead of spending days churning and burning for a board that I will have no idea what it’s like until I actually buy it. A board demo system would be wonderful. But, it’s a shame that this game is free to buy and then you are forced to spend way too much time and effort trying to get a reasonable board if you want to avoid paying for clams. I would have gladly paid $5 or $10 to buy this game up front and have a fair and reasonable leveling up system. I was at level 12 for about five days. The little in-game money is spent traveling to a location with waves instead of buying a cool new board or wet suit. There is a slim chance I will be able to buy a wet suit or a low cost board if I want to get the Sci-Fi or the Single Fin gun board (probably the two best boards in the game). $2.5k is not enough clams for leveling up. Additionally, paying $45-80 to buy enough clams to get a solid board isn’t logical. To sum up, if the player was given $5k clams for each level up and 10k clams for each skill level up, in addition to being able to buy a single board for $1-$5, I believe the in-game leveling up and money system would be fair. With that aside, thank you for making a truly great game otherwise, just a few little adjustments should be made. We all love surfing, let this game be a big fair community and family, not like that of the other big pay-to-win apps on the market 👌🏼🤙🏼
Great Game: Give it a chance
USER: Client.01A
The reason this game doesn’t have higher reviews is due to the fact that you have to work at it. The user has to advance enough in the game to have the opportunity to buy a better board. All you need is a board that can carve, like a 4-star board(in the carving category) or better. I’ll admit that the starter surfboard they give you is subpar, but just get to level 8, save your free in-app currency, and buy a board you can shred the gnar with on those digitally-generated waves. The things I don’t understand are: (1)why do you have to restart ALL missions when you exit the app? (2) why does the 5-minute “perfect storm” feature cut off when the user exits the app(even if if you close the app for a couple seconds)? The perfect storm timer should just simply pause if you close the application so you can finish using it later, if you’re busy. Perhaps the application developers want the user to spend money (via the app-store) to regain anything that you lose when the application gets closed. Even if you establish an account in True Surf you do lose progress with missions already completed, not to be redundant, but it’s true. The surf forecast is a nice feature because it corresponds to real-time surf reports from actual locations around the world that are featured in True Surf.
Great game! Needs more frequent updates..
christian ios app reviews
Every thing about this game is fantastic very impressive indeed. That aside the mains issue I see is infrequent updates. While they are quality typically, they could be more frequent... I love that you can travel anywhere for free too, it just takes forever. I understand the increase of incentives to monetize, and to an extent I support that as a consumer. I do feel that the game deserves some of my money for sure, but with that in mind, I do also feel that we deserve more from the development team. More days with more quality waves especially when it is small, surfing can be super fun when it’s small in real life. More frequent competitions and divisions to compete in. More honest statistics for the boards maybe a percentage gauge rather than the 1-5 star gauge because certain boards at 4 stars of the same stat can perform drastically different and I understand that to be part of the fact that different surf board shapes and fin sets can perform different and you’re attempting to replicate that but why not just a more accurate gauge of the actual stat. These are just improvement ideas, not necessarily gripes or anything of that nature. I just see that there is so much potential for this game to get even better. These changes alone would actually make me and I believe others want to pay more money for this game and feel better about doing so I would happily buy more storms and clams to buy boards as there is not much options to get them otherwise when there’s no competitions going. And I’ve already spent about $80 into Also my app constantly says that I’m on the wrong version and need to update but I can’t and it says I’m on the current version so not sure what that’s about. Anyways fantastic game 4/5 for me, these additions and improvements would make it a solid 5/5 hope the devs see this!
Money grab for a game with a lot of potential
Oldskoolsurf1963
Played this game about 4-5 years ago when it started getting some attention and just forgot about it, was able to get most of the good boards and was level 16. Flash forward to now and I started from fresh thinking it was no problem, bought the unlimited perfect storm subscription to help grind through the levels only to realize the sci-fi 0 board I wanted had gone up about 20k and it takes an unrealistic amount of time to build up the money for it, but of course there’s a pack in the shop selling the exact amount of currency needed to purchase the board for $20. Game is still a blast don’t get me wrong but it’s going in the direction of all the bad free to play games such as war thunder, takes forever to grind but the easy option takes 20-45 dollars out of your pocket and gives you just enough for one board. I was having fun until I realized this, and yes there are other options for much cheaper but come on, the same board I got a few years back almost tripled in price and the best way of getting any currency is the tournaments but Goodluck winning them when the people you’re going up against have the top of line boards they dropped 45 dollars on… 3/5 since it’s fun to play when you’re bored but definitely not worth the time to grind. Please don’t be like Gaijin, no one likes that.
