WebFont is a macOS utility for font conversion, subsetting, and web delivery packaging.
All processing runs locally on your Mac.
What you can do
Font Conversion
- Convert between TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2.
- Use Single Font Conversion or Batch Font Conversion queue workflows.
- WOFF2 encode/decode is backed by Google's WOFF2 library.
Subset Generation
- Build subsets from Current Selection or Text Input mode.
- Paste text or import .txt to extract characters for subsetting.
- Apply Unicode preset groups (General / Japanese / Korean) and block-based filtering.
- Export subset outputs as WOFF2, WOFF, and/or TTF.
- Control OpenType layout handling:
- Preserve all layout features
- Keep essential positioning only
- Remove all layout tables
- Optional OpenType feature-tag filtering (keep selected / remove selected tags).
Web Package Export
- Generate a web package in one step:
- fonts/ (WOFF2 + WOFF)
- CSS with @font-face and unicode-range
- demo.html preview page
- Demo includes live text/size preview and a Character -> Unicode -> HTML Entity reference table.
Glyph Asset Export
- Export selected glyphs as SVG, PNG, or PDF.
Quality & Risk Checks
- Validation runs before output is written.
- Checks include decoder/parser validity, required table presence, missing cmap mappings for selected code points, duplicate Unicode mapping conflicts, and compatibility warnings.
Multi-Window Workflow
- Open multiple windows (File -> New Window) to compare A/B settings side by side.
Privacy
- No cloud upload.
- No external processing.
- Your font files stay on your device.
Notes
- Subset generation currently supports TrueType-outline fonts.

While limited in scope, it DOES do PRECISELY what it promises
Zen@Work
What can I say (other than the two 1-star reviews in here come from morons)? I don't know how much a person needs the functionality, but as a designer and developers, I actually DO on RARE occasion need an SVG of a single character and this is better'n tracing it.Will it save the world, or wow your friends? No. Will it export in singles or batches characterws from a webfont? Yes. What would take it from a random occasional-use ultra-specific utility into something MUCH more mainstream is if it could export FONTS too. Let me select 25 characters and export JUST THEM into a font file. You'd make hundreds of thousands of dollars once word got out.
Batch export does not work.
DebateViewer
Bought this application simply for batch export. When shift selecting multiple items to export and clicking Export to SVG, only one icon makes its way to the destination folder.
Developer Response
Hello, I’ve added many new features—feel free to continue exploring!
Won’t install on High Sierra
GregoryOfTheSalad
Fails to install every time.
Fix an issue where icon fonts display as garbled characters or squares in the sample text area after generating the web package.
