When I went looking for a software program to launch my home inspection business there were a lot of options to choose from. After reviewing the field I narrowed my search to four, two older seasoned companies and two newer start ups. At first it was difficult to determine which program was going to work for me. Did I want price, ease of use or a quality product to weight my final decision? It wasn't until I began to actually work with each program that I quickly came to realize Spectora was going to fulfill each of those categories superbly. As a new inspector, I have found the learning curve has to be surprisingly short. The program is intuitive, the finished product is polished and the support is incredibly personal. Perhaps what I like most is knowing that I am part of something that is being built from the ground up with inspectors in mind. New features are added with direct input from users and the online forum that is very supportive. This program is not hype, it's solid performance, with lots more to come.Initially the price was an issue. I was hesitant to commit to a monthly fee vs a one time purchase. Six months in, have to say, what was a con for me initially has become one of it's strongest pros. You really do get what you pay for in this life and with Spectora the value is there, hands down. I feel as if my monthly payment is providing my buisness with a dynamic product that adds value almost weekly with its upgrades and product support.

After 30 Plus years of owning a retail business I transitioned into home inspections. One thing I learned from my past experience was the importance of good tools and knowledge. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I try to go the cheap route, or the path of least resistance. Often figuring out later on that I need to upgrade, invest in better quality or hire someone to do something that I was not specialized in. With all this being said I knew that I would not be skimping as I got into this new industry. Whether it was my education, my tools or reporting software and website i knew the value would be in not going the cheap route. Not to call Spectora expensive because in the scheme of things it’s rather budget oriented. I’m so glad I chose Spectora for my software and my website. They’ve been very responsive and easy to deal with. Constantly improving updating the product and giving me good insight to how I can become a better business operator. Zero buyers remorse, nothing but happiness with my choice!
I made the switch

One of the hardest things for an inspector to do is switch software. It’s like wearing someone else’s tool pouch. It doesn’t fit right and you don’t know where anything is. I’ve been inspecting for 8 years now and for most of those inspections I used the same software. It was a good program. I was fast when using it. But it had some limitations and I could see myself getting left behind if I didn’t make a change. I started searching for another option and came across Spectora. It had the features I was looking for. The presentation was stellar. The all-in-one package really appealed to me. So I made the switch and I’m glad that I did! The software is easy to use. Easy to customize. The response rate from the developers is astounding! This is the future of report writing! The slow season is the time to make the switch so do it now! If you’re new... this will be the only tool pouch you’ll ever need.
Only One Complaint

I’m new to inspecting, within the last 6 months. Spectora is super user friendly. I love how comments can be added as you go and my reports are about 95% complete when I leave an inspection. Editing on the computer, iPad, iPhone, is a breeze. I’ve gotten nothing but compliments from clients on how easy final reports are to navigate and read. Agents especially love the repair request builder and how convenient it is to see all the defects in one place. The only complaint I have about the entire program is you can’t copy and paste pictures within the program. As in, a photo I’ve taken can’t be copied and easily moved to another section unless you download on a computer, then add it. I know you can have the program copy all the photos you take to your personal photos library, but I take over 100 pictures usually on an inspection so I’d have to go in and delete all those pictures from my iPad every time and that just isn’t easy or convenient. If there is a way that feature could be added, that would make this program perfect, but I still love it.
