Hungry Hearts Diner is a game about a small shop at the edge of a
big city. Take on the role of the hard-working old lady struggling to
manage her family's little restaurant—and all by her lonesome, too!
Cook tasty meals for a variety of colorful characters, and learn more
about their triumphs and struggles as they chow down on your tasty,
home-cooked food. Rice balls, dumplings, tempura...you can make it all!
In fact, the more you cook, the more dishes you'll unlock.
And hey, you'll even get a chance to learn about good ol' fashioned
Japanese cuisine while you're at it! Did you know you can make
jelly out of seaweed? Because I didn't!
Of course, the people who visit your diner all have a story to tell.
And what makes people more talkative than a full belly?
Feed your customers until they feel like sitting back and spinning
you a yarn or two!
But not every story is a happy one, and not every ending
joyous. Stay tuned for some twists and turns!
Story
------------------------------------------
On a tiny side street in a nameless little neighborhood sits an
old Japanese diner. Things are quiet here; old-fashioned
you might say. But of course they are. It's Showa era Japan,
and the television is just starting to come into vogue.
Slide open the screen door and you'll see a kindly old lady
hard at work behind the counter. Her husband's been sick
for a while, and she's had to run the place on her own.
It's hard work, but she's a tough one, and she gets by.
Sit down at one of the worn wooden tables, and close your
eyes. Thunk thunk goes the steady beat of a knife chopping
veggies. Hisss; the sound of meat sizzling in a pan.
Swish swish; a whisk beating eggs.
The soothing sounds of a simple kitchen.
Sit here long enough, and all that tension will just flow
right out of you. So come on in, order a hot meal, and take
a load off. The peace'll do you good.
So, let me guess. The question you're asking yourself right now
is "is this game for me"? Well, maybe it is.

This is the most rewarding...fun...emotional game I have ever played!! The 10 characters in the story was so fascinating and they drew you in to their lives...it was wonderful and captivating !! The graphics was awesome and if you stuck to playing the game you could get through it in a day or two...but I wanted to take my time with it and enjoy the experience. So I stopped playing for and then I would come back to it. I really was loving all the food options and drinks and desserts and how you can go up a level in each dish. Love when I got all the dishes you get this wonderful graphic with all the main characters and it says “Thank-You for betting the game. But did and you didn’t cause I still needed to get all the stars for each dish. But figuring out what to serve was great. I really and truly loved this game!! I would hope they would make a part 2 of this game. Now there was a little tiny problem(s) that I encounter while playing ...I wish I could put more dishes out...thats it and this wish will not take away from the 5 stars I gave you!! Oh one more thing I loved about this game you didn’t have to buy any coin packs...just 3 different good luck charms for $.99 each of you want!! I do believe that being able to renovate made me play more cause I needed to make money and I needed diner level ups in order to purchase the items I needed to renovate the diner!! Once agin Thank-You...awesome and wonderful game...please please make a part two..and have it as wonderful as this!! For those that are thinking of they should download...YES YES...you won’t regret it!!!
Extremely great!

I’m trying to beat every Hungry Hearts game in a matter of days, and this is a great start! I played this the whole time on the airplane, it’s so good I had to! But anyways, the customers are really memorable and have their own different personalities! Ol’ Tokei doesn’t eat anything but chilled tofu, and Dr. Mondo snarfs stuff down like there’s no tomorrow… it’s so interesting how the customers differ so much! And don’t I forget about all the meals! They look so yummy AND! Their descriptions just blew me away. The Showa era, it all looks so interesting… I never knew the spoon for curry and rice was in water! But more importantly, Tanabata is a big part of this game, and I love it! From the star-crossed wishes from Pigtails and Slick, to the ones from Ol’ Tokei and Officer Hiro… it gives me a feeling of completion after I’ve seen all of the wishes. The drawing for the ending blew me away! How much time did it take for you to draw that? Even better than the already great Showa Candy Shop 3 drawing! This music is great, I would NEVER get tired of it. It’s so poignant, just like the conversations! You can find out the customers troubles and how they feel! It’s really… touching to see how the ending works out. Just one thing… the level that fried rice needs to be for chicken and egg bowl is SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS. You know Energy exists and Fried Rice takes up a lot? Well, Imagine making, I don’t know, 40 of them. But that’s just a small concern. Overall, this is a great game with lots of stuff to explore! You should totally try it out. I’m halfway though Hungry Hearts 2, and I can’t wait to see how Hungry Hearts Neo unfolds! Bye!
Absolutely phenomenal!

I should start by saying I have never finished a clicker game in its entirety before, and that I’ve never once felt the need to leave a review for an app. This game’s wonderful art, easy gameplay, and witty food descriptions drew me in, but the story kept me completely hooked. As peaceful and cute as this game is, it’s wonderfully emotional and full of characters I couldn’t help but love. Even customers I initially thought were rude or troublesome became sympathetic. I laughed at their jokes and came close to tears a few times when listening to their struggles. This game has some of the loveliest, most deeply human character writing I have ever seen, and it packages it into perfectly sized portions. Granny’s stubborn refusal to let her customers sink into their own problems unassisted, and the ways those problems intersected with one another, never failed to surprise and move me. This is the kind of story that I know I will think a lot about. I’ve unlocked everything, but I plan on keeping the app on my phone for at least a little while longer. It’s nice to open it up every once in a while and see how the diner is doing. Thank you to the developers for all the love that went into this story!
I CANT STOP PLAYING!!!
GypsySunrise
Seriously, this is my third time completing the entire game and my only criticism(not really) is that it actually ends. Most cooking games are mindless, repetitive and go on forever. They get tedious because of a lack of story line. This little Japanese themed game has all the best parts of those games, PLUS a storyline that wrecks your heart, and heals you, over and over again. And the ending?! Omg... third play through still had me sobbing even though I knew what was coming. I just can’t stop playing it. I’m too involved in the stories of the characters to abandon them for long. I keep this game installed on my phone and revisit it every few months. I think I’ll know every line of dialogue by heart before the time comes where I ever choose to delete this game. And I might not even delete it then. Many kudos to the devs!! I’ve never played a game that’s actually “got me in the feels”... and I’m so thankful for the little morals in this game. I never thought a phone game could change my life, but sometimes you just need Granny’s sarcasm to get you on the right path. So much love to everyone involved in the design and development of the story/characters. <3
Fixed some bugs.
