Docs On Tap V2
Business
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Docs On Tap is a document distribution application that enables you to control the dissemination of information to authorised users. The application is ideal for distributing content such as a board papers, minutes, policies, videos, mp3s - in fact files of any kind.
A web application enables an administrator to load files up to a secure server. The content is then securely synchronised to the registered end user who receives the content on their device in a structured format. The end user has the ability to view and annotate documents directly within the app.
If you have Docs On Tap installed on multiple devices then annotations are synchronised between devices. Your favourites list and reading history, including last document viewed and last page viewed for each document, are also synchronised between devices.
Docs On Tap streamlines the distribution process by delivering the content in a structured manner direct from the web application to the end user.
more - Added a feature that enhances the display and functionality of the connectivity icon. It now changes colour to orange a red to indicate that annotations have not synced to the server, provides a tooltip with information regarding the status, and allows for a manual resync to be initiated.
- Some sites choose to create an email containing links to DOT documents and folders, and send that as a bulletin to elected members. Corrected an issue when a URL for a Folder was clicked that would show a message saying "File Unavailable". This was inappropriate as Folders never have files attached to them.

Non-Shareable Documents
We fixed an issue that prevented text related annotations e.g. highlight and underline, from working on documents that were marked as non-shareable.
We tidied up a loophole that enabled exporting of pages in non-shareable documents.
App Initialisation
We have removed redundant data, to reduce the size of each User's database, thus increasing the speed of initialisation of the App on a new device.
26.06.1 Jun 10
Free Text Search Using a Phrase
When searching across all documents you will now be prompted to add quotation marks if it looks like your search criteria is a phrase, rather than a single word.
Memory Restricted Mode
In the rare case that you are still experiencing performance issues with viewing of documents, we have added a new option: **Settings > Preferences > Enable Memory Restricted Mode**. This mode is optimised for devices with low memory resources. The setting is device specific i.e. if you have Docs On Tap installed on multiple devices then the setting will only apply to the device that you enable it on.
Files with "Cancel" in Name
We fixed an obscure bug that prevented files with the text "Cancel" in their title from being displayed.
26.03.1 Mar 12
* We fixed an issue that was causing URL links to files and folders in Docs On Tap to open in the browser instead of the installed app on Apple and Android devices.
* This release has a fix for the memory issue that was causing documents to crash and reload on (mainly) Apple devices.
* We now restrict saved zoom values for a document to 600% to avoid issues loading the document if an extraordinarily high value is inadvertently set.
* We fixed an issue where a file with a dot/period (".") in the file name would not download due to the app misinterpreting the file extension.
* We fixed an issue where files that had multiple ampersands ("&") in the file name would generate an error if you attempted to email them from the app.
25.12.1 12/15/2025
* We have introduced a new feature that enables submission of Fillable PDF Forms.
* We fixed some issues and improved the process of clicking on links from within a document.
* We now re-initiate the database connection if it closes unexpectedly. This will avoid potential loss of annotations.
* We fixed an issue related to initial loading of certain documents. This will improve the speed of loading annotations etc. for affected documents.
25.10.1 10/25/2025
## Deleted Files
If a file is deleted from the Admin Portal, and a user tries to access it via a pre-existing file link, they will now be prevented from doing so.
## Adding Multiple Free Text Annotations
Previously adding subsequent free text annotations, after adding an initial free text annotation, took 3 clicks. We have reduced this to a single click to add each subsequent free text annotation.
## iPad Problem With Controls Being Hidden Behind Document
* We fixed a problem that caused the Page Controls (page number and left and right arrows), View Controls drop down and Zoom drop down to be hidden behind the document on the App installed on iPhone or iPad from the Apple App Store.
* We also took the opportunity to move the Page Controls (page number and left and right arrows) to the left hand side of the page to make them less obtrusive. We do still plan to reintroduce the page slider in the near future.
## iPad and Mac Memory Issues Causing Document To Reload
A number of users experienced a memory issue on some iPads and Mac computers that caused the document viewer to be reloaded. The result of reloading was that the page would momentarily be blank, then the viewer was initially displaying page 1 and then after a few seconds going back to the page that was previously being viewed. We found that the issue was most prevalent when scrolling through a large document using the "Continuous" Page Transition mode. We now default the Page Transition mode to "Page By Page" on iPad, iPhone and Mac devices. Users of these devices will receive a one-time message alerting them to this change. We will continue to investigate improving performance of the viewer so that the memory issues do not occur. However, it appears that those issues are related to the memory management of the Safari Webkit browser engine used by browser based applications on Apple devices. Research has shown that this is a known issue, not unique to Docs On Tap.

25.07.2:
We fixed a bug that caused some files to load slowly, or not at all.
25.07.1:
Bug Fixes
* We fixed a bug that prevented downloading or printing the online version of a file i.e. downloading and printing would only work the second time that you viewed a file, when the offline version of the file would be used.
* We fixed a bug that allowed selection of text, in certain scenarios, in a file that was not enabled for sharing.
* We fixed an issue that prevented SMS Verification Codes from being sent consistently.
Document Viewer
* We've updated the document viewer to make it work better with assistive technology such as screen readers.
* When a new document is selected the Pan Tool (hand icon) will always be the default. If you want to select text then you need to choose the text selection tool from the toolbar.
Printing a Document
* Because of inconsistencies in the approach and quality of printing on different platforms we now only offer printing by first downloading the file to your local device, and then printing using the devices native print capabilities. So, if you need to print a file:
1. Click/tap the Share icon.
2. Download the file to your device.
3. Print the file using your devices native print capabilities.

* This release contains a number of stability improvements, bug fixes and performance enhancements.
* A new multi-select button has been added to the annotations/comments sidebar. When clicked this displays a checkbox next to each annotation that allows:
1. The grouping of multiple annotations, which can then have one common comment thread.
2. The selection of multiple annotations that can then have batch operations performed on them e.g. deletion, formatting or change of status.
23.05.1 05/31/2023
* Full text search: the search function in Docs On Tap now searches the contents of all documents and attachments (previously it only searched folder, document and attachment titles).
