False advertisement on English subtitles

The picture quality is amazing a decent amount selection they only reason the app 2starz because I can’t view English English subtitles there needs to be a cc Caption on all Multi lingual movie/tv apps so the customer who wants to enjoy the shows can read only their preferred subtitles No English subtitles the videos are in Mandarin and the subtitles are in mandarin but the lies that u can view the videos in English air play is the same no English subtitles I really sanitize love this app but I can’t since I can’t view any English subtitles what made me furious is I even clicked my language as English the videos label English subs show auto populate in English you would think but no the videos still in mandarin 🤬🤯what I don’t understand is why are they app developers reading the horrible comments complaining about the subtitles it’s like they don’t care 🤷🏽‍♀️ they the app is rated poorly because of the false advertising of subtitles that they claim are supposed to be available on the videos no do Vip paid subscription unless u are fluent in mandarin

This app isn’t bad but it needs work. There are features that don’t work properly or are missing that other apps like YOUKU, Tencent and iQiYi all have. The first feature is the captions/ subtitles. I find that after watching 2-3 episodes in a row the English subtitles will stop working. Although, in the caption settings it shows that they are on, no captions show on screen. What I have to do is either change the captions to another language and then switch back to English or turn off the captions and turn them back on. It becomes a hassle doing this just about every other episode. The next feature that I find needs work is fast forwarding/seeking. While this app does have fast forwarding it can only be done by dragging the time cursor. Compared to the apps previously mentioned they all have the ability to fast forward by scrolling, pressing a button to fast forward 10-15 seconds, and most conveniently long pressing on the screen to speed up the video. For MGTV to not have that standard feature is a bit disappointing. And the last feature I have an issue with is there is no way to filter shows I want to watch. The apps mentioned all allow for you to filter movies and shows based on categories such as theme, date released, popularity and even if the subtitles are auto generated or not. Yet this app only has the search by name function so unless I know what show I want to watch or scroll on the home page, which doesn’t show MGTV’s full category, I am missing out on a ton of shows. Because I do like MGTV’s shows I continue to pay VIP and I do understand they are slightly smaller than the others but I would love to see them improve these things sooner.

Videos are good, subtitles are not

I should have read other reviews but I didn’t. The app itself works well. It looks nice and operates smoothly. As with other reviewers my only issue revolve around the subtitles. There are a few problems with the subtitles (it should be noted that I can only confirm these issues for English subtitles, we have not used any others). First issue is the timing. we have only watched a few episodes of a single show, but the subtitles are almost always 1 - 2 seconds ahead of the audio.Second issue is the amount of time that the subtitles appear. They tend to disappear very quickly. If there are more than 5 - 6 words then usually I am unable to completely read it.The third, and final, issue is using AirPlay, the subtitles do not display. I read about this and it seems like this is a common problem with subtitles when a content server is not setup according to Apple’s specifications. I purchased a 3 month subscription. I hope these issue are addressed before it expires. If they are I believe there will be a lot of content at a really good price. If these problems are not corrected by the end of the subscription then I will simply not renew.

The current version of the app is terrible. Although it looks nicer but it’s not great. 1. Old version on the iPad I was able to watch full screen. Now with new version of the app, I can’t watch full screen in my iPad. Full screen will work on my iPad but I don’t want to watch it on there because my phone screen is smaller. Video quality isn’t great anymore on iPad either. 2. Problems with logging back in after mango tv app logs you out after a period of time. With the new update, I had a hard time logging back in via my Facebook. My vip subscription was also tied to my Facebook log in. When I tried logging back in via my Facebook log in info, it would tell me that my location is unknown or different and I need to verify through my mobile number. It wouldn’t let me verify with my mobile number. It took me many tries before I was finally able to log in with my fb log in info.3. English Subtitles are horrible!! Old and new version of app, the subtitles was bad. It would display too fast so you never have the chance to read it. There’s also a delay when the subtitles are showing right now, sometimes the English subtitles don’t show either. I use Tencent and iQIYI, there English subtitles are WAY better than mango tv!Overall this app isn’t great and I’m not happy with the app. It has great dramas that I would love to watch but right now I can’t on my iPad. Mango tv needs to make an app specific for iPad and would be great if they develop one for Apple TV too.
