I wish I was exaggerating when I say I looked for WEEKS for a desktop background quotes app with this kind of customizable dynamic capability. I just wanted a simple app or extension that would display quotes (of my choosing) on my laptop background. The criterion that made my search difficult was wanting the quote to automatically change every hour or whatever interval I so desired. You would think there would be user friendly, efficient apps like that on the market. But no. Any app I found claiming to have this kind of functionality was too convoluted, limited in versatility, or unreasonably expensive/a scam. I still can't believe it took me so long to dig through the internet before finding this gem of an app. After using it for 1 week, I couldn't believe it wasn't at the forefront of the "laptop background quotes" app market. There are so many quote apps out there, but every single one is 100% all style no substance. This app has everything I could've asked for, and in such a stupidly simple platform that I could not be more pleased. I use it everyday. It lives in my menu bar so I never have to remember to manually launching it each morning. Even with it always running in my menu bar, I haven't noticed a single difference in my macbook's performance with this app running alongside all my others. Absolutely no difference in my battery drainage either. It hangs out in the menu bar, minds its own business, and does its thing in the background without me having to life a finger. Imo, this is my best kept app store secret, though I wish more people knew about it. I just can't emphasize enough how well it has met, or rather surpassed, every one of my expectations. Genuinely zero complaints.

I need frequent reminders that there is a finish line and that I can get there. And like many others I have large files of quotes. I wanted exactly what Desktop Quote is - simple, on screen display of quotes with the option of adding my own to the included quote file. I need frequent reminding, so I have Desktop Quote change the quote every hour. I had no setup problems (and I'm a Boomer Dinosaur), it is seamless with my basic iMac, and several times after only 2 weeks when I was vegetating in front of my screen, the quote changed and I read it and got my caboose up and moving. Someone asked a NASA scientist what was so great about the Voyager Spacecraft. The reply was, 'Its ours, it works, and it wasn't designed to kill anybody.' I can say that about Desktop Quote software and you can quote me on that. 5 stars.

I have been looking for a quotes on my desktop from Text file since I transitioned from windows > Mac. This app seriously nails it.The interface for the option does look dated, text is barely readable in options on dark mode. This doesn't affect the actual displaying of the quotes. The app itself so far works flawlessly and is exactly what I wanted. For $1 this was a complete no brainer. BUY THIS APP. Support the dev. I hope he continues to develop it to make it even better!

This is a great little app for anyone who likes having quotes on their desktop and OMG it’s FREE. It has a great set of preferences adn being able to add your own quotes is frosting on the cake. Like a few other, I did find that changing the font results in long waits, but once it finally saved I was, and am, a very happy camper with this app. Thank you to the developers!
