It’s OK Devs need to worry about fixing cameras

The app is alright sometimes it can be a bit slow. What I absolutely dislike about this company is their lack of customer service it can take up to 2 business days until you hear back from them and they always have problems with the owl cam not connecting to your phone. At first they told me it was a battery problem the camera shuts off when battery falls below 12v however most vehicles that are 2+years can have their batteries lower than 12v while parked. After buying a brand new battery for a new vehicle that I didn’t need to initially the owl cam started to “connect” pass 3 weeks and the same issue is happening, I know it’s not the battery or the vehicle they are both new car is under 11k miles let’s see what their “customer” service will say to this. OH don’t forget when you call them Physically be prepared to wait 15-20m to have the robot tell you sorry all agents are busy right now leave a message you’ll never get that reply. Their app also seems to be broken as mentioned before the devs really need to worry about fixing the user to admin chat when asking questions rather than worrying about the layout and design. I’ve been with owl for over a year and a half now and the camera is only on or works for about 70% of the time. Their “bump” detection also does not work got two dings on my vehicle due to a hit and run and owl never picked it up at all (talk about having a good camera)

Buyer beware. Not the greatest but finally got it working

So I made the mistake of not reading recent reviews before buying this product. It came in, I installed it, and it worked for about a second then wouldn’t be accessible at all from my phone. Got in contact with customer service, after FINALLY reading reviews that shared my experience. They actually did respond somewhat quickly to me. Tried a fix, didn’t work. So I asked for a refund. They stated I could get my refund within 30 days of getting the product, which the website promises, but then said there is a 25% restocking fee deducted from my refund, which the website makes no mention of.

Luckily, shortly after this exchange, my Owlcam started working on my phone, sending alerts as I wanted it to. Cancelled the return/refund. It does reboot during a drive sometimes, but it’s fairly quick about it then goes back to functioning. Would have rated 4/5 stars if not for the “25% restocking fee” they insisted on. Should probably mention that on the website……

One year later review....

Don’t buy this product! Instead of improving with software updates and hardware revisions, this product actually has gotten worse. From day one there has been an issue with Bluetooth connectivity and the Geo fencing area that the manufacturer still refuses to address. Because of this you will receive an alert every time you enter your own vehicle. No one needs a notification to tell them they’re entering their own vehicle! The manufacturers fix.... advise you to turn off the notifications. :( This defeats the security features of the camera. Not only defeating a security feature but the manufacture is still advertising this as one of their main selling features, deceiving customers. Their newest hardware revision took what was originally a very sturdy camera mount, a solid camera housing and replaced it with cheap injection molded plastic. Their newest revision of the camera and mount is now cheap, flimsy and extremely prone to vibration. This newest revision now means that a lot of your footage is going to be unusable. What they also don’t tell you unless you read the fine print is that they restrict the amount of footage you can download from the camera. Restricting you to only getting video clips that are just a few minutes long. Do your own homework and research, but I would definitely not recommend buying this camera.
