Ride Forces records g-forces on roller coasters and amusement park rides with your iPhone or Apple Watch. View graphs, analyze stats, and share the forces of your favorite rides. A must have app for thrill seekers, roller coaster enthusiast, and physics nerds.
Standard Recording:
Captures the g-forces of rides and roller coasters. Provides stats and graphs of g-forces in three dimensions.
- Records force data from accelerometer
- Requires motion tracking permissions
Subscribe to Ride Forces Pro to capture advanced recordings.
Advanced Recording:
In addition to capturing the force data of a standard recording advanced recording captures rider orientation, GPS data, and weather conditions. This reveals additional ride information including: identifying airtime/hangtime, inversions, orientation angles, a map of ride location, temperature, wind speed, and wind direction.
A Ride Forces Pro subscription is required to capture advanced recordings. Advanced recordings can be viewed, edited, and shared with or without a subscription.
- Records force and orientation data using multiple sensors including accelerometer and gyroscope
- Records GPS data
- Records weather conditions (requires internet connection)
- Requires location and motion tracking permissions
- Records for a maximum of 15 minutes
- Advanced recording will fallback to standard recording if the app is closed while recording

Awesome, ingenious app that looks great and works flawlessly

This app makes clever use of your device’s accelerometer to measure the forces you’re being subjected to on amusement park rides. It works very well, and as an iOS programmer myself, I can tell that Stephen has spent an inordinate amount of time reading and interpreting Apple’s interface guidelines for iOS apps.A couple off the cuff ideas come to mind while using the app.The first is to maybe integrate something like RCDB into your app to allow users to select the ride and seat location of a recording from a drop-down menu and maybe see some ride stats. A default could potentially be set based on geolocation. The second is to set up some sort of database of user recordings where riders can compare forces and seat locations. This would probably depend on the aforementioned RCDB integration, or on crowdsourced data from users of the app. Again, geolocation could potentially be used to roughly verify recordings. This obviously adds hosting fees and logistics, so probably not feasible, but maybe something you could charge a small premium for to monetize the app if you so chose. Finally, you should add a donate link to your site! This app is maybe the most well-done third party iOS I’ve used and I’m quite picky. Thank you for your hard work!
Amazing app

I went to cedar point and I found this app. It is absolutely amazing and is a great way to gather data about rides. I wish that data of dB could be recorded to tell how loud the ride is. Another thing I wish the app had was showing all the different g forces all at the same time
Amazing App

I love this app, I use it for measuring the g’s on all the rides I go on. I 100% recommend this app. The developer even instead of making free features paid. Added a new paid feature for advanced recording.
Great App!
Foroglio
If the developer sees this I wanted to ask about how to flip the axis of any forces if I know that they are the wrong way. Say when it shows a deceleration when I know there was an acceleration and wanted to flip that longitudinal axis.
- Displays the correct force key images in ride replay view for flying rides.
- Prevents issue that could cause the orientation graph on ride overview to be blank.
- Fixes issue with occasional unexpected recording results on Apple Watch when out of range of paired iPhone.
- Capture time data in ride forces files when the data sequence isn't at the expected sample rate.
- Additional recording optimizations.
- Minimum supported WatchOS is now 9.0.
