Under the theme “…like in a fairy tale,” the moers festival 2026 explores the power of storytelling. Fairy tales are not merely reduced to the great European tradition, but are understood as an artistic means of grappling with the complexity—and, unfortunately, the brutality—of our times. This theme is interpreted in a radically artistic way through two large-scale semi-staged productions: Gellert Szabo’s Ideal Orchestra and the Chroma Kollektiv’s music theater piece “Märchenhafte Klangschaften” translate the search for truth and the escape into fiction into powerful soundscapes.
