Easy to create customized boards. App gives you the option of using icons from its library, the internet, or your photo library. 3x3 grids provide a perfect size to see and use, even on a phone screen. There are two additional features that bring the BRIDGE COMMUNICATION app head and shoulders above the the pack for me. First is the login-save feature which allows teachers, SLPs, and others to create boards for individuals on their devices, then have the client/caregiver download the boards using the created login to their device. This is huge, right?! Second is that the icon label and speech output are typed on two separate lines and don’t have to match. This means that you can label the icon “cookie” and have the speech output say “I would like a cookie”. Game changer. It’s reasonably priced. So glad I found this app. Have been telling people all about it!

tl;dr - We love this app and the company that makes it. The app is easy to use and easy to edit once you get the hang of it. It has proven to be very intuitive for my non-speaking 5 year old. I would whole-heartedly recommend it. We inquired about getting Bridge on iPhone a few months ago but it was not yet available. The creator of the app said they were working on that and she would let me know if it became available. She emailed me a few days ago and gifted us a copy of the app for iPhone. So, we did receive this app for free but would have purchased it anyway and that does not change my positive review but rather speaks to the integrity of the company. In my interactions with them the last few months it is obvious they care about their users as individuals and work to ensure the app is made available for anyone who would benefit from it. My son is non-speaking and began using the app on his school issued iPad this year. We have found it to be very intuitive for him. When motivated, he can easily find the buttons for what he needs. He also just really enjoys playing with the app and hearing the voice speak what he taps. We are hopeful that his communication skills will continue to grow with use of Bridge. As a parent, editing the app took a bit of getting used to. Now that I know how it works I am able to quickly add and remove buttons. I added my son’s entire 40 word core board in about 15 minutes so he could have an interactive version of the physical board he uses in school. If we can’t figure out how to do something, the company’s support is readily available. I would absolutely recommend this app to anyone who needs assistance communicating. It is user friendly, easy to edit, and backed by a fantastic group of people.

I am a SLP working in the schools and in the private sector. I have worked with many different types of AAC software programs, communication boards, Speech Generating Devices, and AAC devices that are currently on the market. I am absolutely loving this app! It is easy to learn and use for all ages of patients/students, caregivers, nurses, teachers, other therapy providers, and anyone else that might need to use the app or assist in using it. This alone is a huge plus! In my experience so far, the more difficult it is to use - the less it is used. I highly recommend this app -especially if you are looking for assistance with expressive language for functional and daily communication skills!

As a clinician who is new to treating kids with AAC needs, this app has offered a complete and holistic therapeutic approach to stimulation and use of functional communication. The app is easy to navigate, offering easy to comprehend written and visual cues that kids of all ages easily identify and relate to (easy for parents and teachers too!). The context for communication that it provides is unmatched and allows for more natural communication exchanges, growing and expanding language with each session. Best part of it all, is that this app can be used for many kids with a range of language challenges for vocabulary building and communication. A win-win for clinician and client!
