I have played Trombone for 14 years, but recent years I have let it take a back seat. I thought this app would be good to help me get back to where I was, and I think it will be. The only problem is that it is not a good app to teach you how to play. It is a good app if you already know how to play. So I would recommend this only if you, like me, are trying to get back into the swing of things, or you are looking for supplemental material to work from in between lessons.Update: The developer contacted me and said that they are working on learning features! So while I wait, I’ll go through the campaign with what I have and have a good time with my music!!

I’m a multi instrument player and decided to learn my favorite instrument which is violin. While I am a beginner to this instrument I have well over 20 years in music and professional live audio production so I think my biggest frustration is that when in song mode the app doesn’t pick up what I’m playing and restarts the section 3xs before I can move on while the practice is appreciated I’d like to have actual feed back on my playing instead of waiting through the three try’s before it lets me move on to the next section. I did see another post about this so it’s definitely room for improvement in the app. It is taking longer to progress bc of this issue so hopefully this can get fixed as I do feel the app is robust and a great tool otherwise but it’s not a cheap app so this needs to be addressed.

This can of course happen if the pitches aren’t fully accurate yet – but there can also be technical reasons. If you are playing without headphones and your accompaniment volume is high, the app may also pick up the backing track. As a result, the feedback system receives sounds that don’t come from your instrument, which prevents it from evaluating your playing properly.To ensure precise, reliable feedback and smooth progression, it’s important that the app hears only your instrument. I was enjoying the app immensely for about nine months and then it suddenly stopped working on my iPad. It continue to work fine on my iPhone. When I contacted support, they diagnosed the problem. My iPad, being a 2018 model, had an old version of iOS which I couldn’t update further. So they quickly came out with a fix. In about a week it was up and operating again on my iPad. This was great diagnosis and quick turnaround from the coders. Thanks for the support!

Almost A Magnificent App !

Love the app concept, however I paid for the premium subscription and I deal with major pains. App frequently freezes while playing, the time tracking some times works ? Every three days I get a notification “way to go three days in a row” when in reality I spend at least an hour playing in the app every day. As I have progressed I’ve started to use Tomplay more often, but since I purchased the premium subscription I at least try to get my money’s worth out of it. Product manager/App owner if your reading this please address these bugs, do more user testing on modern hardware. Please. More than willing to go 5 stars if these bugs get sorted.
