All hope provided by the very promising and good looking interface is quickly dashed by a host of bugs and a lack of important features. Most articles are unable to be read natively in the app, requiring a constant shuffling between Elytra and Safari - a concern which is not present on better RSS readers. The lack of any option to automatically open Safari with reader view enabled forces a whopping three button presses to be able to view an article in as close to plain-text as Elytra can get. Other RSS readers natively and automatically are able to format these articles in not even a single button press - they are able to display them upon opening the selected article. It is a huge disappointment in a particularly well-trodden feature set of RSS readers. Furthermore, of the limited settings offered by Elytra, remarkably little of them seem to work at all. As in, changing these settings throw up SSL error messages, crash the app to springboard, or simply have no effect when changed. It took me a remarkably long time to even buy the app - a steep asking price of $34 for a lifetime purchase (which is, for some reason, listed in the app as only being a subscription valid until 2026). If it weren’t already clear, it is a purchase I deeply regret. I will be exploring options for a refund, and I encourage anyone interested after the admittedly generous trial period to divert your attention to readers like News Explorer - a more feature complete, robust, and equally good looking option that is priced appropriately for an app on the App Store.
Hello, sorry for your experience with the app. v2.0.0 contained some bugs which are now fixed in v2.0.2 release of the app. The SSL error messages you encountered don't seem to be related to app itself. The lifetime purchase is set to a date far into the future so no subscription related errors occur when you try to use the app. There was an AppStore related issue around the time of your review which caused the Subscription based options to not show up at all. If you're facing any issues with particular feeds and articles, I'll be happy to resolve these issues for all my users, please feel free to email me at support@elytra.app.
