Side Calendar is a lightweight menu bar app that puts your agenda within arm's reach. See what's happening now, what's coming next, and manage your day — all without leaving what you're working on.
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Side Calendar isn't another window to manage. It lives in your menu bar and slides in from the screen edge, so your whole day is one glance or one keystroke away — then gets out of the way the moment you click off. All the power of a full calendar app, in a panel that never breaks your focus.
ALWAYS KNOW WHAT'S NOW AND NEXT
Your menu bar shows the current or next event with a live countdown — "45 min left" or "in 2 hr 15 min" — so you're never caught off guard.
SLIDE-IN SIDE PANEL
Click the menu bar icon, hit your shortcut, or move your mouse to the screen edge to reveal a sleek side panel. Pin it open when you need it, or let it dismiss the moment you click away.
TWO WAYS TO VIEW YOUR DAY
• Agenda View: Events and reminders grouped by day — Today, Tomorrow, and beyond.
• Day View: A full hourly timeline with overlapping event layout, a current-time marker, and zoom control. Move between days with ← / →.
DRAG TO RESCHEDULE
Move events to a new time by dragging them in Day view. Resize an event's edge to change its duration. Draw a new event by dragging across an empty slot. Everything you'd expect from a full calendar app, right in your side panel.
RIGHT-CLICK FOR QUICK ACTIONS
Right-click any event to Edit, Duplicate, change its Duration, Hide, or Delete — no editor required. Duplicate a recurring event and choose to copy just this occurrence or the entire series.
FULL RECURRING EVENT SUPPORT
Edit, delete, or move a recurring event and choose the scope — just this occurrence, or this and all future occurrences. No surprises, no broken series.
RICH EVENT EDITOR
Create and edit events with everything you need: title, calendar, times, location, alerts, repeat rules, end-repeat dates, and notes. Double-click any event to open it instantly — no need to launch the Calendar app.
MAKE THE DATE YOURS
Choose how dates display, including a custom format with a live preview. Show week numbers in the date header and the month picker.
CONFIGURABLE GLOBAL SHORTCUT
Toggle the side panel from anywhere with ⌘⌥C (or bind your own combo in Settings).
CALENDAR & REMINDER SUPPORT
Works with all your macOS calendars and reminder lists. Choose exactly which ones to display in Settings.
HOT EDGE ACTIVATION
Reveal the side panel by moving your cursor to the screen edge. Adjust sensitivity to suit your workflow. Pick which side of the display it appears on. Works with multi-monitor setups.
MAKE IT YOURS
• Resize the panel width by dragging its inside edge
• Adjust background opacity to taste
• Choose left or right edge activation
• Zoom Day view to your preferred density
• Pin the panel open for focused planning sessions — it reappears automatically next launch
THOUGHTFUL DETAILS
• Month calendar picker for quick date navigation
• Colour-coded events matching your calendar colours
• Multi-day events shown on every day they span
• Launch at Login support
• Rounded, translucent panel that feels at home in macOS
• Tiny footprint — lives in your menu bar, not your Dock
Side Calendar is built entirely with Swift and SwiftUI, designed to feel like a natural part of macOS.
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Doesn't display upcoming event in menu!

I thought this would display countdown until the next upcoming event in menu. It only displays the current event unless you click on it. Totally defeats the point of a countdown.
Developer Response
Hi,Thanks for you feedback.I've made some changes so that it now displays both the current and next event count down.please do let me know if there are any other issues.
How much of an event's name the menu bar shows is now yours to choose. It still trims at 24 characters unless you say otherwise — Settings › Menu Bar lets you raise the limit, or switch truncation off to show titles in full, though a very long title can push other menu bar icons out of view.
Hovering the menu bar item always shows the event's full name.
